Nope. That's the real reason he sent Kiffin packing. So he could get more HC experience before taking over the Bama job.

OP is blinded by his fanaticism.

Saban would prefer for bammer to go in the toilet after he left.

He is a narcissist of the highest level.

The last thing he wants is a coach to step in behind him and win MORE and tarnish his records.

He does not love anything about bammer or any fan or player. He only loves himself and his legacy.

It's why he is the best at what he does.

Just let him be the greatest coach. Quit trying to turn him into a saint like you tried to turn the drunk womanizer bear bryant into a saint. No one is buying it.

After the Tornadoes Saban changed. He truly loves Alabama now. I met him and he has a twinkle in his eyes like I've never seen. I could see him becoming Athletic Director

i dont think thats true but the idea that most of these coaches care one iota for the place they coaching is pretty laughable. Exceptions exist sure but it's rare and Saban is the poster DGAF about anything but himself coach. That's not even a criticism, I wouldn't either if i was in the profession as these schools will turn around and fire your arse at a moment's notice.

Nick has been at Bama a decade now. I seem to remember this board telling us he didn't care about Bama and would leave for another NFL job. Or Texas. 3-years and done was the consensus.

I think he is pretty ingrained in the community at this point.

I mean it's pretty well known he came pretty close to going to texas

i don't know why this bothers you so much, it's the reality of the profession. It's no different anywhere else. It's not like Bear who was an alum, that's obviously a different story.

But hey if you want to tell yourself a fairytale to make you feel better about whatever thats fine i guess.

Posts this, then doesn't see the irony when he proceeds to post this:

I am under no illusions about the nature of the profession. Saban has 10 years in....he is probably good for another 5 to 10. That is good tenure in this day and age. Look around the P5 college football landscape and tell me who else has that situation? It's a two way street and Bama gives him whatever he feels he needs to be successful.

yeah what the auburn fan said was silly, and I definitely believe Saban cares about his players. I mean you can't be successful as a head coach to that extent if you didn't.

I mean i dont think he hates it there or anything, but it's just a job not really that much different than you or me. I mean do you "love" your employer?

And they way Saban is I absolutely believe he thinks he's one 6-6 season away from getting shitcanned, even though that's totally absurd.

Saban considers the shape he leaves Alabama part of his legacy. He is grooming a successor. He'll probably retire the family (including his mother who moved to Tuscaloosa years ago)permanently to the lake in Georgia, maintain a bs special consultant position with UA, retain his family business holdings in Birmingham and go work for ESPN. That's pretty much just the reality of what's gonna happen. If he doesn't give a shite he fakes it well enough. Just wait and see

he obviously gives a shite. All i'm saying is the shite he gives extends no further than Nick Saban. That's also not a criticism.

Yeah. Well. I can't really even entertain the question of whether our football coach cares about me without laughing. Ridiculous

Saban doesn't care enough about Bama to care who takes over after he leaves. If anything he would want them to fail to make himself look better. If someone else came in and still won like him it would prove it was just the 5*s recruits and not his coaching.

He cares as much about Bama as he does LSU, Michigan State, Toledo, and the Dolphins.

I think you are wrong about that....Saban resurrected the Bama brand and built a machine. Not just the football program but the University and town has benefitted as well. Why would he want to see all of his hard work go to hell because some jackass coach comes in behind him and screws it up?
