I understand your #1 stat ranking but once again what good rushing team do you have to hang your hat on to say we just completely dominated them?

No one real good. Auburn fans will say the same thing when we play them. LSU is only 19th in rushing. So, I guess we won't have a good answer for them either.

He is truly special. It doesn't matter. Just like last year, our lines dominate on both sides of the ball. We pull away in the second half and win by multiple scores.

I was into the bourbon pretty heavily last night so I barely remember posting any of that. Like Hemingway, I do my best work while inebriated.

Will be okay in the NFL as a utility back for some years.

This is what Bear thought about Bo Jackson.

actually he wanted to make him a LB.... which he likely would have been the best LB in history and would have had a longer career since that tackle would have never happened... Honestly, Bo Jackson could have played half the positions on the field better than 90% of the people we have seen play them since. This is a moot point.

A lot like Darren McFadden

McFadden killed us, we just happened to score more points than the pigs a few times. With that said, those were some really bad Bama teams in terms of talent.

Statistically we are #1 in the country. You can't be better than #1. I rewatched last years game and its not like Harris didn't try throwing it. He threw it 19 times. Etling is not a super QB that will open up your ground game. I don't see him doing much better.

I’m not saying we’re going to put up big offensive numbers by any means, but our OL is playing better than last year (and DL for that matter), we have JD Moore back who is a great blocking FB, we have a new approach to our running game that includes a lot more play action, and Etling is FARRRRRRR better at hitting the short and intermediate routes. Brandon Harris either threw it deep or threw it in the stands. And we only ran out of the I formation.

Etling and Ensminger love the two TE set and actually throw it to them a lot, which will help keep the LBs honest and give our RBs at least the chance to get to line. Last year everyone knew every time we were going to run and LF was hit a yard in the backfield every time. It was insanity.

I think we lose like 31-17, but its 24-17 until late. We have more success moving the ball than last year too (hard to go anywhere but up).

These are good points. The main thing that makes LSU a bit more dangerous this year is simply that the play calling seems a bit less predictable.

However, Etling will absolutely have to hit some deeper routes. Alabama's DBs play extremely tight coverage and take away throws less than 10 yards and basically dare the opposing offensive line to give the QB enough time to make deep throws. Eddie Jackson being out does help but QBs absolutely have to make those deeper throws consistently to beat Alabama because that's where the defense is giving space.

One difference in Alabama's defense this year is that the line is a lot faster but not the massive run stuffers of years past. The interesting question here is will it allow Fournette (or Guice) to break a few big plays simply by breaking a tackle on runs between the tackles.

Should be a great game but I think the main way LSU wins isn't really going to be by moving the ball consistently but maybe hitting a few bigs plays and mainly creating turnovers in Alabama's passing game.

My model is close to the Vegas line (Bama-10) but I'm thinking it's really closer. My model ignores improving #'s. All teams improve but I would say LSU and AU are more improved than the average team. Say, 3pts max, Bama -7?

Still waiting for someone to answer my question what good running team has the Bama defense faced in 2016?

A&M was leading the league in rushing when we played them. I wouldn't say they're not a good rushing team just because we shut them down.

Or because they had played a actual good d before that game?

Come on we really don't know about a&m yet. Their best win is either beat up tenner or arky who just gave up the most rushing yards in SEC history.
But your right they did put up 100+ yds on the ground against you guys with you guys knowing the plays.

LSU will have to pass effectively to open the run game. UA is too strong along their front 7. The only way LF gets 100+ is if UA has to guess what it coming.
