Unfortunate to be recruited to the team he was.

Yeah, it's too bad Bama never showed interest.

So you think he will have a better pro career than pretty much every Alabama RB in history?

I understand your #1 stat ranking but once again what good rushing team do you have to hang your hat on to say we just completely dominated them?

its not like Harris didn't try throwing it. He threw it 19 times. Etling is not a super QB that will open up your ground game. I don't see him doing much better

I'm not saying Etling is the answer to all QB problems at LSU, but you'd have to be blind to say there isn't a difference in the passing game over the last 3 games. Not even from an efficiency standpoint, but just how it is executed. Under Miles, a team did not even have to prepare to defend much in terms of the pass game. You knew when the team lined up if it was going to be a run or pass most of the time, and if it was a pass, there was nothing remotely special or complicated about it. A sub standard QB didn't help out the situation either. At least now Bama will have to prep for a pass game. It's not going to be dominant, but it will open the run at least a little if LSU can execute. And Fournette and Guice need just a little to turn a run into a 7 yarder here and there.

I'm not saying LSU comes away with a win. But it's at least going to look different in my opinion. And if it doesn't, then back to the drawing board next year with a new coaching staff to makes sure it does change. When Ole Miss can give you a run for your money, LSU needs to be able to do it as well.

I never thought last year that LSU would beat the tide. I knew that offensive line could not line up and drive Bama off the ball the way they had everyone else before that game. I also knew Brandon Harris could not beat them with his arm. We are close to the same team this year with the exception of having a more accurate passer who makes much better decisions for the most part. The defense is also much better than last year. I still think Bama is the better team. Sometimes the better team doesn't win though. LSU will have to play their best game of the year to win period, but I feel better about their chances than last year.

Yeah he's probably the best RB in college FB and the most physically talented one to come out in years. But if bama line dominates our Dline (which is a possibility) then its game over.

You are right. He is better than both Gurley and Elliot and its not close.

Gurley in 2012 ran for 1385 with 17 TD. In 2013, he ran for 989 10 TDs.

Elliot ran for 1878 with 18 TD and 1821 with 23 TD.

These are full time starter stats as well. In fournette's first full time year (last year) he ran for 1953 yards (missed a game where he would have gotten prob 200) with 22 TDs. He would have had elliot's best year beaten by 300-400 yards and probably 2-3 TDs.

Everyone says fournette doesn't have hands and thats his flaw. He doesn't drop really anything. He just isn't thrown to enough out of the backfield except on screens.

The difference in last year and this year though, is that you aren't going to get 30 Toss Dive plays (worst play ever fricking invented) then be at 3rd and 15 when a pass is 100% incoming. How many times under less did you ever see 4 WR sets? Or passes on 1st or 2nd down. They are a different team. I still think our O'Line sucks and the trenches will be where its decided again.

I'm still waiting on what great rushing team Bama has faced to tell me it's going to be a repeat of last year.

As bad as our offense was under miles at the beginning of the year we have had a 100 yd rusher in every game this year and that's against a Wisconsin D who is dominating Big 10 Offenses and Auburn who held the pigs to under 50 yds rushing.

Alabama's defense has been the place where traditional RB's go to die for a decade now. There's no reason to think next week is going to be any different.

LF7 has the ability to break one off on any given play, but there's no evidence that the LSU offense is now competent enough to make UA pull a safety off of run support. Alabama's front 7 has 6 likely 1st round draft picks starting and 2 in the secondary that are graded as 1st round picks. This is not a good match for a pro style offense like LSU.

I am an LSU fan and I agree. The only backs I have seen that have had success vs. bama have been in spread offenses. If there is no threat with the pass the lb's are playing the run. At least LSU might have somewhat of a passing threat this time. I still think the way to run against bama is from spread formations.

Kinda like Henry with the Titans you mean and all the other RB bust from Alabama in the NFL?

He is truly special. It doesn't matter. Just like last year, our lines dominate on both sides of the ball.

I can get on board with this, Fournette is special, and Alabama's lines are dominating this year like last. It's good to see mutual respect in opponents.

Not so much the rest of your post, though.

I'm very interested in seeing if this rush defense is as elite as the Bama 15' rush defense.

2015 - 2.43 yards per carry allowed
2016 - 2.18 yards per carry allowed

You're right that we don't know the full story on them yet, but clearly our rush defense is looking good so far. It will be a test for both teams.

I would call the close games in BR the last 2 times a very good run for the money. We won the NC in 2012 and in the PO in 2014. Both year's we could have been knocked out with a different bounce of the ball in BR.

My point is that I think for this game you shouldn't judge Coach O. Les was better suited to beating us although I know you needed the change just like UGA did. But, Coach O shouldn't be judged on how well he plays the best coach in history his first time out at LSU.
