I just can’t wrap my head around this. This is a match made in heaven. He’s a way better coach than anyone they’ve been linked to or could realistically get. Auburn is all of a sudden going to start acting like they have morals?LOL! If he was able to pull off the recruiting he did at Ole Miss then imagine what he could do with the Auburn booster network behind him! Auburn is actually good at cheating. They know how to get away with it.

This should have been done the day after they fired Gus. I legitimately can’t believe they are passing up this opportunity. Crazy

I tend to agree with you. Two things:
1- He’s very polarizing at Auburn for some reason. Same issue with Petrino in 2012.
2-He’s buddies with Gus. May be some bad blood there?

Skanky & the good ol’ boys at the SEC office may block the Freezer Man from getting back into the conference.

Give the guy 5M. Tell him he can bang hookers all he wants. Introduce him to the bag men and fricking roll.

This ain’t hard

Auburn should tell them to get fricked.

Hugh Freeze is Gus 2.0. He's the same coach. Same philosophy. Same quirkiness. Maybe he's a better recruiter and has fewer morals. But paying 21M to get rid of Gus, only to bring in Freeze? Pretty stupid.

Jimmy Rane doesn't want him, so discussion of Freeze is moot.

It doesn't make any sense which makes me think there is a possibility this is a long con and Freeze has always been the guy.

The real power brokers are setting up all these interviews as a smoke screen. They play it off like they were spurned by everyone who is a serious candidate. They already have a tentative deal with Freeze in place. The boosters who were apprehensive about hiring him due to "ethical" concerns panic and do a 180.

Personally, I think he would be a the best possible hire for them. He is also the only potential candidate I would not be happy with as a Georgia fan. He would be a pain in the arse to deal with from day 1, especially with recruiting.

"I believe in the human touch, which cultivates sympathy with my fellow men and mutual helpfulness and brings happiness for all."
Seems like the Auburn Creed is perfect for Freeze.

"I believe in obedience to law because it protects the rights of all."
Well... as long as he beats Bama, right?

They hired Bruce Pearl so they waved bye bye to morals years ago.

no

It’s not a conspiracy. Auburn fired their coach without a plan in place and now they are suffering the consequences. There is no reason for them to put up a front of incompetence in some sort of long con to bring Freeze in. In reality they are just bungling the search and we all get to watch. Trust me, we did the same thing a few years ago

I know it is extremely unlikely but I am done trying to think about this situation rationally.

Because he was fired from another SEC program in disgrace and because a team with Auburn's record with ncaa, can't hire him. Before you guys get defensive, not saying our history is much better. Hell we can't even hire the man as a consultant. That is why he is polarizing at Auburn. He is polarizing from the SEC offices themselves. The AU folks saying don't hire him understand this.

The state of Alabama is full of bible thumpers that would frown on Freezes past actions.

Freeze would absolutely compete at a high level with Auburn’s resources.

Don’t think Hugh will coach in the SEC again but you are right. Hugh would dominate at Auburn.
