How would we ever determine our conference champion if we had 4 divisions? That would mean a mini-playoff every year where we just knocked each other out of the actual playoffs. Sounds stupid.

2 divisions forever.

This. It's the only equitable solution. From what I'm told you can't break up those sacred rivalries that have existed since the beginning of time. This would preserve those.

4, 4-team pods

9 conference games

No more permanent rivals. Instead, 3-2-2-2 will allow everyone to play everyone else home-and-home over four years.

Three divisions: Paper, Scissors, Rock

Last year's champion becomes the sixth team in the division of their choosing. The six team division winner plays the winner of one of the other two divisions for the SEC Championship.

The two five team division winners play a game of Paper/Scissors/Rock to decide which team advances to the championship game. ESPN fleshes out the Paper/Scissors/Rock game to a full 30 minutes of programming.

I'd set it up like the NFC/AFC in the NFL.

4 divisions with four teams each.

West:
aTm
LSU
Arkansas
Mizzou

Dixie:
Alabama
Auburn
Ole Miss
Miss. State

Smokies:
NC State
Kentucky
Tennessee
South Carolina

Coastal:
Florida
Georgia
Vanderbilt (well they needed a home)
Clemson

3 Division games. Then 2 teams from each of the divisions. The schedule is based on how each team finished the previous season.

Then a two week playoff with the division winners.

Profit.

Pod 3 - MSU, OM, LSU, A&M
Pod 4- Ark, Mizz, new teams

2 East Teams
Pod 1 - UF, USCe, new teams
Pod 2 - UGA, UT, Vandy; UK
Pod 3 - Bama, Aub, MSU, OM
Pod 4 - LSU, A&M, Ark, Mzzou

This makes sense considering South Carolina is closer to the coast than Clemson

I think we should take after the B1G and do the leaders and losers divisions.

Losers:
NC State
Kentucky
Vandy
Ole Miss
Miss State
Mizzou

Leaders:
The other 10.

Leaders play a 9 game schedule and play everyone in their division. Losers slap fight amongst themselves waiting for basketball season, Egg Bowl, Easter, or whatever makes them happy.

Bottom two teams in the Leaders are relegated, top two teams in the Losers are brought up. Every year.

only teams in the Leaders Division at the start of each season are eligible for the SEC title?

Eh?

Would certainly make recruiting a lot more interesting if a traditional power moved down to the Losers Division for a year.
