NFL head coaching job.

Mmm, I don't know if I would call Hatfield leaving on his own terms. I think if Broyles hadn't been such a colossal pain to deal with that Hatfield would have stayed on as Razorbacks coach for quite a while longer.
Or to put it this way, Hatfield leaving for Clemson was Hatfield's choice, but I don't think it was the choice he wanted.
ETA: For a bit of creative spelling... it would seem this here bourbon that is keeping me company is quite potent.
Yea, that's fair.

I think he'll accept an NFL offer but fall victim to a tragic gravy boating accident before coaching a game.

Honestly, I would guess when Iowa asks him to come.
It would be hard to fault a guy for going back to his school when they ask.

Hmm, did Gus play for Arkansas, serve as team captain, start coaching there and have a tattoo of the razorbacks on his leg?
If so, then I would think so.

Iowa is not a factor. They've passed him over numerous times and he's never been back since taking the LB job at Kstate.
Iowa is happy w/ Ferentz and Ferentz isn't leaving on his own accord. Also, Iowa doesn't have the resources we do or the exposure that we do in the SEC or the recruiting base that we do.
When he gets bored w/ college football and when the Tampa Bay Bucs come calling is when he'll have a decision to make.

Ah well then. If he has no interest in Iowa, I would probably agree that only the NFL would have a shot at getting him to leave.

is that a serious question?

I'm also skeptical that he'd leave for Iowa, but I can't say that I'm certain. He does have an Iowa tattoo, or so I've heard.
Gus wants to coach Arkansas, but I'm not sure it'll ever happen. Seems he's really rubbed a lot of people the wrong way and burned too many bridges, among other things.

Yes. I think it's relevant to the discussion, considering it is a response thread

Man frick Gus. It would be interesting however.
Gus is a damned good coach, his teams were really disciplined and played smart. Then again recruiting superior talent against little towns was the main catalyst for him.
If Gus wanted to be Arkansas' coach, he never would have taken any job at Auburn. I do sympathize with him because he did get screwed over by Nutt, but again Gus played those kids behind the scenes and was a cancer in the coaches' offices. He might not have been given a fair shot by Nutt and his goons, but he didn't play it well by politicking behind the scenes. That usually never ends well.
He took Auburn's job out of spite and it may prevent the fairytale story from ever having a happy ending. Gus will be tossed aside whenever it's convenient for Auburn to do so.
