This. I love how SEC writers of different teams are saying that as a negative. Having Josh Robinson next to Dak in the backfield automatically makes up better. I would argue that they will the top tandem this year in the SEC when it comes to rush yards.

McKinney and Jones are fun to watch. Gotta have some guys in the secondary step up, or mass exodus of QBs in the West help State any.

The only person we lose there is our safety Nickoe Whitley. He was good but played hurt all year and really hurt us a lot. Our SS got hurt in the first game and missed a whole year and is returning. They were a decent secondary. I see no reason why they won't be better. Like i said, the defense is supposed to be really solid.

We bring back all 4 bowl starters in the secondary -- and 7/8ths of the 2-deep... plus the SS starter that missed all season last year.

Our corners really came into their own late. If we get good play at FS from Justin Cox, the secondary should be a strength...

If we had dak for the bama game I don't think yall would have one that game. Also the overtime games against Arky and OM were only that way because we had a true freshman at qb. Even with him we were still close with OM, then Dak came in the 4th quarter, nuff said.
I know we are State but IF we stay healthy i see us at 9 wins. If not our bottom is 6-6.

11-1 lose the Egg bowl.

I would take that in an absolute heart beat. Could we make y'all like 3-9 though?

Auburn plays both us and OM on the road, and they will lose at least one of them.

He was also responsible for your wins over Arkansas and Ole Miss. You most likely finish 4-8 without the guy.

He was never really good to start with, and received a lot of unwarranted hype from the Mississippi State fanbase... To be perfectly honest, he wasn't a complete back. He had speed, but he was small and his ability to break tackles was minuscule. I really can't believe he started over other running backs in the stable.

In short, I agree.

What hype?

Few MSU fans were ever in favor of him being the every down back. He was much more lethal as the 3rd down/change of pace back early in his career...

I've posted the numbers against top 40 run defenses before. The difference between he and Robinson over the past two years is totally staggering. Something like 4 ypc difference in favor of Robinson against those teams...

Please 99% of State fans were hoping Perkins would be benched before the start of last year.

You must not remember the game very well.

Whitley --- who also stopped a potential winning drive by Arkansas with a forced fumble

Nickoe Whitley saved our season with that forced fumble against Arkansas," Mullen said.
