The homosexual imagery of Bama fans is quite amusing.

How were Bama fans during this stretch?
It is almost unimaginable that Bama lost to auburn 6 straight times given where the programs are now. That had to pretty miserable. I bet you guys where doing a lot of the "ifs" and "buts" LSU fans are doing these days. You think you guys would be a little more understanding.

Didn't realize that you guys were dealing with scholarship cuts these days.

No. Just in 10 to 15 year increments about every 20 years.

Where was LSU ranked in wins after the 99 season?

Growing in the ham during those years were bad, but Bama never went more than 2 yrs in a row without 10 win season. Aburn fans were intolerable though and losses to La tech, LA Monroe, ucf, NIU and Missippi state were humbling.

suffered through four losing seasons, four non-bowl years, lost to Auburn six straight years, went to the Music City Bowl twice and even was subjected to the Independence Bowl . . . three times

I have to admit, it was depressing. Dubose damn near ruined the program, Franchione gave us false hope, and Shula was Shula.....

I think one thing that made it worse was bama was in almost every game. Shula would just go into deer in headlights mode at the end of every third quarter. It got to where everyone felt if the game was close in the 4th quarter, bama had no chance of winning no matter who they were playing.

Yup.

Having lived through that period with family at Bama and Auburn, I can tell you that it was entertaining. UGA was no prize either for the most part, but the irony is that there was almost a constant murmur to fire the Alabama coach, no matter who we was... even if he was winning 10 games. It was an ebb and flow between the fire that mother fricker's and the sniffling loyalists.

Feinbaum during that period was radio gold. The emotional coaching searches, whacky rumors, and all the cheating were better than anything until the discovery of free internet porn.

Imagine a news station on LA just after one of the Hurricanes. "Region in Crisis, day 7" That was the tone of the coaching searches and the Means case. The sobbing fans, the conspiracy theories on who tipped off the NCAA and how it was someone else's fault. It always was someone else's fault.

...and then of course, in the face of 6-6 and loses to 1AA teams... they could always fall back on Bear... how they used to be something during the Vietnam War.

So when I see these young, whippersnappers boasting of greatness and the Bama dynasty...

Just know....

That I know...

That is exactly the kind of post Auburn posters were making. Great job.

You are SO right. Under Dubose, Bama mostly just sucked.

Under Shula, it was almost always close but you knew as sure as the sun rises in the east that they would choke it away.

It sucked losing games, but it still sucks losing games. I loved to watch Alabama play even if i thought we were gonna lose. On the bright side i got to go to a lot more games back then because tickets were 20 bucks each instead of 200. We were poor and would sleep in a van on 2nd st. parking lot. get up go to jacks then go watch the Tide get beat then drive that van home... Didn't miss one for a few years. Now I only get to go to 1 or 2 home games a year plus the sec champ and the big ones if we get to go.
