It's not about accomplishments as much as it's about his inability to stop when he has a full head of steam.

I just think hes accomplished so much their is nothing left.

What you think has no bearing on what Nick Saban thinks.

He will coach until he no longer has the drive to excel, and if you will reference his explosion at Joey Freshwater over a meaningless turnover a couple of weeks ago you will notice that drive shows no sign of abating.

Imo he has surpassed Bear as the GOAT. Its a different time and era. Its harder now to win titles than it was in those days. Hes the king. I dont see hom staying more than 2 more years

Why do you think it is harder now? Not trying to attack you or anything. I just want to point some things out. There was no bcs, no number 1 vs 2 guaranteed match ups. It all depended on sports writers and coaches polls. Much of Bear's career NC's were awarded before the bowl games. The bowl games were a reward for the players after a long hard season. They didn't practice as hard and did a lot of sightseeing. I am saying this because it meant politics played a bigger role. ND, Big 10, and West coast teams had an advantage due to their populations(more sports writers voting). Bear was cheated out of two Championships because of media bias. He could literally field the best team and then watch a bunch of Paul Finebaum types from all over the country vote ND number one. The game itself isn't that different. It still is 4 tries for ten yards for a first down, blocking and tackling are still the most important things.Recruiting was just as important then as it is now. The approach has changed over the years and Bear was always willing to change with the game as is Saban. qb's had to be tougher back then.(throwing the ball out of bounds was intentional grounding) There were no helmet to helmet and launching was considered good hitting. I just disagree with your theory that it is harder to win a championship today. Not only did you have to do it on the field back in the day, you had to deal with the bias from other parts of the country. It may be harder for Notre Dame and Texas and USC, because it isn't a popularity contest as much. Back then it was harder for teams from mostly rural states like Alabama.

He will coach until they force him out. What the hell would that miserable old SOB do with himself if he didn't have people to yell at??

God you're gonna hate his retirement so much. Constant media slobbering over him for a month straight as the entire sports world stops to say thank you and farewell to a Legend

He'll probably coach until he dies, or has health problems (legit).

I don't see him retiring before that.

Eventually that tour will come home to BR and he'll apologize for ever leaving. The biggest mistake of his career as he has already said. Reason being that no matter what he does at Bama he didn't make the program there, Bear did. At LSU he could have been the Bud Wilkinson or Bob Neyland or Steve Spurrier of the program.

Because back then you had your haves and have nots. You could hand out over 100 schloarships
Ive heard Bear gave schollys to incredible players but didnt need them just to keep them from going to the competition. More parity in college ball now. You didnt have black players pre 70s. I feel the competition is fierce now

Saban takes his coaching serious. Hes gotta be getting close to burning out. Hes not the type to coach until 70. Hes not the type to go out like Holtz, Bowden or Spurrier.

UGA- Kirby
UF- McElwain
USC- Muschamp
LSU-Kiffin? Jimbo?

Who's next? Markie Mark in Lexington?

Saban is 64, in great health and still coaching like his hair is on fire. Anybody who thinks he will be done in the next year or two isn't paying attention. Dude will go out on his terms, and most likely after he gets that 7th ring to pass Bear.

I'd set the over/under at 5 years personally. Saban isn't like Spurrier who loves to golf. Even when Saban is on vacation at the lake he's breaking down game film, football is his job and his hobby all in one. He won't walk away until he feels like he can't give it his all anymore. Again, I'd give him about 5 more seasons after this one but truth be told a lot of people who know him wouldn't be shocked to see him coaching 8-10 years from now if his health is good.
