Generally speaking SEC west clubs LSU, OM, Ark, MSU have a larger more devoted following in baseball than east schools except for S. Carolina. Most of those schools lead the nation in attendance every year regardless of record. A&M seems to have very good support of their team and even bama jumps on the bandwagon and sellout when good so the question should be, why is it that most east teams lack general fan interest compared to their SEC west counterparts regardless of how their team plays.

College Baseball Season is College Baseball Season. It has priority during College Baseball Season and has, for most Gamecock fans, since the 60s - that's when it started happening for us because that is when Bobby Richardson, the Father of Gamecock Baseball, began coaching here.

In fifty years we've had three coaches. Bobby Richardson, June Raines and Ray Tanner ... now, this year Chad Holbrook begins a new era.

You don't just turn it on and off because they are winning or losing or whatever. So no OP, I believe you are wrong but who knows, perhaps I am - it wouldn't be the first time.

As an Arkansas fan, I am not qualified to answer this question

Before the last 2 seasons, State sucked pretty bad. I was still vested in baseball season. I love baseball season. Been going to games and listening on the radio ever since I can remember.

I enjoy baseball almost as much as football, so I always care about how all SEC teams are doing. I think it's a little different than football in that even if your baseball team sucks in a particular season, you generally root for the other SEC teams to do well enough to hopefully get to the CWS. It doesn't happen that way so much in football. But that's just my take on it.

So is the Arky/MSU current obsession with baseball on the rant a fad or do these teams actually have a solid following/fanbase.

I'm sure this has been said but you will find these fanbases at the top of attendance average listings every year...and for quite awhile now. Devoted fanbases in the SEC (West, especially).
