How much do SEC fans care about baseball when they aren't winning?

I'll start with the disclaimer that I've only spent one season on the SECR.
But every fan I know in person(with the exception of one LSU fan) only talks about college baseball when their team is ranked and doing well. Every fan of a team that is having a bad year never mentions it. Small sample size for the West teams besides Bama and Auburn, but it holds true for the East.
On the rant, I only hear fans of teams with recent success talk about baseball like it's "1b to football". Fans of teams that have sucked recently keep their mouth shut and just talk about offseason football stuff.
So is the Arky/MSU current obsession with baseball on the rant a fad or do these teams actually have a solid following/fanbase. I know Georgia fans bandwagon like hell for our team.

I keep up with UGA baseball even when we suck, which is 3 out of every 5 years.

I barely care if we are winning. I only perk up for the post season.

Yeah, we all like discussing our teams when they suck.

Huh? MSU has had a strong baseball following for a long time.

I wouldn't watch our team if they were in the championship game.

In the SEC the overwhelming majority of fans care about and talk about football regardless of team success. For basketball and baseball there is less than 10% of any fanbase who talks much about baseball or basketball unless their team is good at the time with the lone exception of Kentucky basketball. Compare football attendance to basketball and baseball attendance. Compare football tv ratings with basketball and baseball ratings. These numbers tell the story.

State has had a quality program and a good following for a long time.

Exactly.
Fans pretend to care about women's basketball, gymnastics, swimming and diving, track and field, equestrian, softball and even fishing when their school is good in the sport. The reality is, no one cares about any of that stuff.
Baseball is only a half step ahead of those sports and basketball is about a step and half up.

I always follow it, even though Alabama has been the suck lately.

I love baseball, I just don't talk about it here.

Most of the UK fans here follow baseball. I know Mike and Bho are Party Deck regulars as well. I think a lot of your SEC teams have a pretty solid baseball fanbase. The stadiums they play in are a good indicator of that IMO.

I keep up with LSU baseball even when we have shitty years(which hasn't been often, i'll admit). I just love college baseball and my team in general so it doesn't matter

Arkansas has always had good support for the big 3 sports

Wrong.

Yeah, let's talk about that.

No, they don't. That's a completely asinine comparison because nobody here is saying college baseball or basketball is on the level of college football. The OP simply asked if anybody cared about baseball if their team wasn't good.

Look I know LSU has good baseball fan support and interest relatively speaking, leads the nation in attendance, etc. They are usually very good which contributes to that, but was not really was being asked about in the OP.
But even with LSU's good baseball fan support, it is simply dwarfed by the support (attendance, ratings, money, merchandise etc.) generated by football, even when football is bad.

Again, the question being asked isn't if college baseball is on the same level as college football.
