No one lives forever, no one. But with advances in modern science and my high level income, it's not crazy to think I can live to be 245, maybe 300.

Oh you know which one you just won't say it.

Bryant's last seasons were

11-1
12-0
10-2
9-2-1
8-4

And included 3 SEC and 2 national titles.

Bowden's BEST season of his last 5 was 9-4. Patero won a single conference title in his last 5 full seasons and lost 4 or more games in 3 of them.

But yeah, Bryant's the one that held on too long.

I wonder if he will give the NFL another shot since he didn't fare too well last time? Maybe he is content with being a great college coach.

With Bowden and Paterno it was clear they had checked out years before their career ended. They were just detached from everything.

They were mostly figureheads the last 5'ish years of their tenure.

Saban is extremely active, both on the recruiting trail, the practice field, the media circuit, etc.

If Alabama wins the NC this year it will be Number 5 for Coach Saban. I believe that will be enough to motivate him to stick around and try to get two more to break the record.

I agree, he's shooting for immortality. Having said that when he gets too old to work closely with the defense in the hot days of August he'll hang it up. But, that could be 10 years. He's very very fit for a man of 64 yrs.
