I'm talking about the running game. That's what this thread is about.

TIA.
I really am interested in the % of zone-read plays AU ran. It seemed really odd that Saban was getting fooled by the same play all game long. Maybe that wasn't the case and maybe AU only ran it a handful of times. Just curious.

I think they showed this a few times during the game. The zone read is one formation and starts the same, but the QB has multiple options. Very difficult for a LB or safety to read based on initial movement. Tennessee game was classic with this. UT LB would read one thing and the ball would wind up another place.
And, Malzahn hasnt nearly broken out his whole offense yet. A lot of shite we ran in 2010 I have not seen yet. Including wrap around hand offs etc.

It's not like Saban/Smart were fooled. On most, if not all, the players were in the right spot but bit on the wrong guy. When you play a team like Auburn or Florida under Urban you have to stay with your assignment no matter what. One guy blowing his assignment is the difference between a gain of a yard or two and a 20+ yard TD.

Not really a true zone read that auburn runs. Their blocking scheme is more man with their running game being more of an inverted veer option.
80% of their rushing yards were not from a zone read. Rather a veer "power play", which is not much different than your standard offenses.
Alabama struggled due to auburn's inside guys got to the second level on the power plays. Alabama lacked their usual large NT this year that occupied two blockers. Instead relying more on a standard 4-3 front

2010 and 2009 for that matter. He cut a lot out of the trick plays out of the offense this year. I don't doubt that they might pop back up here soon especially in a bowl game.

no it was a 109 yard return on a short field goal, wasn't the zone read that won the game
bama scored a td on a fluke missed tackle 99 yard pass and a rare Auburn turnover. They were lucky they only got beat by 1 touchdown. Could have been ugly for them.

Go ahead and say it, "Alabama beat themselves."

No just the players on the field. Dude 296 yards rushing on Bama who was holding teams to an average of 91 I believe, and you want to claim no one was being fooled?...
Then the alternative is Auburn just dominated the front 7.
Really it is a combination of both.

bottom line....the greatest D genius the world has ever known was beaten by a one dimensional O that has five plays in the playbook. Those five plays are HS plays. That has to sting.

Gus is smart and playing to his personnel. Lack of experience for Marshall forced him to abandon his more typical dive play action passes that newton was so great at. Instead he uses Marshall strength with a more of an option look

That is rich. The stats are almost identical.
Keep clowning though.

That shite is funny as hell. Why run something else when the D can't stop it? Damn, it's got to be frustrating as hell to watch your D get chewed up by the same play over and over

Are one of y'all gonna go crunch the numbers and tell me how many times Auburn ran the zone-read last Saturday or not? I'm waiting!

We beat you, and UGA, and Ark, and UT X-Box EA NCAA read option style
I have about 5 plays I run and peeps cry because they can't stop them. You banners sound like the peeps I beat down with read option, zone, screen, play action pass and a a pass with option routes
