Communication with Kiffin was more difficult on the road. Sims was not very good with pre-snap reads. Hopefully this years QB won't have to rely so heavily on looking to the sideline.

All of those could also be chalked up to defensive talent. Just saying...
14 points at Arkansas? Compared to 42 points and 672 yards of offense against Florida at home?

quote:As someone else said, Drake will actually not have a broken leg, for one. Also, this offense is likely to be a bit less nuanced in playcalling. There will be a lot more comfortability in run-heavy gameplans, which is something Ole Miss's defense wasn't entirely capable of overcoming last season. I look at games like the ones the Landsharks had against Auburn, LSU, and Arkansas, and it's pretty obvious that to beat Ole Miss the run must be established early, and a balanced approach that mixes in deep lobs and short routes afterward can be utilized to maintain offensive performance against them. Given that power running will be Bama's bread and butter for at least the beginning of the season, I believe that 34 points against Ole Miss are quite achievable.
Did OJ, drake, and Henry improve that much over the offseason?

If we kick a field goal, the game is ours.

So the offense scored 10 points last year, and despite losing the QB, your best RB, and your best WR, you expect to score 34?

I'll say this, if Kenyan Drake gets the bulk of the carries, I think Bama moves the ball well and scores. If Henry gets the bulk, I like Ole Miss' chances.

You are right... even if Kelly turns it over 3 times, State will be screwed.

Ole Miss only needs a safety. Dont get it twisted, I dislike Alabama just a little more than Ole Miss

I'm saying it fits. Your offense did poorly against the three top defenses y'all played. You can't chalk all of that up to your players not doing well on the road.

I would say at least 24.

Just want to remind the folks in this thread that Ole Miss got outplayed in basically every phase of the game last year. They scored 2 touchdowns late in the game to go up, and Bama still had a chance to win it at the end.
Statistically, Bama outperformed Ole Miss in every category aside from turnovers. Unfortunately, that wasn't enough to win the scoreboard and those turnovers proved to be fatal. Anyone watching that game could clearly see that Alabama was the superior team.

Take a look at the offensive production at home vs on the road. Almost bizarre.
those were also basically the best 3 defenses you played all season. not a coincidence.

Ole Miss' passing game was significantly better if you include that
Ole Miss passing touchdowns: 3
Bama: 0
Ole Miss interceptions: 0
Bama: 1
There is no way you can spin Alabama having a better passing day.
The only phase that Bama excelled in was running the ball, but only with TJ Yeldon because Ole Miss' defensive line controlled the line of scrimmage. Yeldon had the vision to make cutbacks and was still able to gain positive yardage. Derrick Henry doesn't possess such vision and barely averaged 2.0 ypc despite 17 attempts.
On top of that, the only reason Bama was even in the game in the 4th was the missed facemask leading to a touchdown. Ole Miss absolutely dominated the 2nd half, especially the line of scrimmage. Your post is shite, rewatch the game.

Why is everyone in this thread using last years game like it has any barring on this upcoming one?
