Miami had them. Auburn had them in the 80s. LSU had them in the early 2000s.

Everyone gets them.

But the GOAT especially gets them when they play in 8 of the last 12 championship games, and win 5 (or 6) of them...

Sorry we're a Blue Blood and attract a lot of attention.

We really should re-think this "big 6" bullshite.

It's bama. Then the other 5.

I was quiet last year. That was mostly because after the LSU game we all knew who was on the path of destiny. I graduated from UA and named my oldest son Bryant in 2005 (pre-Saban).

Alabama is definitely known for having fairweather fans who don't care that much about college football.

I'd agree. Did you see the responses in the "did you root against LSU last year?" thread? The majority of the big time college football fans that pull for bama admitted they either didn't watch the game or didn't care about it.

Didn't care about the national championship game?? Wow, big fans.

From 1997-2007 Alabama went 74-61 and 43-45 in the SEC (average = 7-6 (4-4)). We were on probation twice, lost a coach to Texas A&M, had a coach fired for paying for a stripper on the University credit card before he coached a single game, finished ranked 2 out of 10 years while finishing with 4 losing seasons out of 10 years.

That decade was thinner than anything A&M has had since pre-Jackie Sherrill.

UA Class of '93 here. I've been through it all. Cut my teeth watching Coach Bryant, struggles of Perkins, walked on under Curry and Coach Stallings, and then suffered through DuBose, Francione, Price (3 months) and Shula. I don't take anything that Coach Saban has done for my alma mater.

I don’t know about anybody else but I went to games at Denny Stadium with my dad before Bryant’s name was added in 1975. More Legion Field games and Iron Bowls than I can remember. Finally, I recall watching the Sugar Bowl on January 2, 1978. I’ll let you Google that one. I don’t know what that makes me but I have no memory of not being a Bama fan.

You also had three 10-win seasons and a conference title in those 10 years. Btw, A&M had a 10-year stretch worse than that more recently, 1999-2009. 71-63 record, zero 10 win seasons and zero conference titles or even division titles, and got beat 77-0 with the above mentioned Alabama coach.

How about Arkansas last 10 years? South Carolina? Miss St? Ole Miss? I could go all day.

If that's your worst 10 years ever, consider yourself lucky. Not to mention when you aren't in your "thin" times, you're winning a NC multiple times every decade.

Which almost made it worse, as all 3 were followed up by disaster

- 1999 SEC Champions ---- followed by crippling NCAA Probation and a 3-9 season

- 2002 10 win season ---- on probation, can't go to SEC Title, lost at home to finish the year to huge underdog Auburn. Season is followed up by coach leaving for TAMU, Mike Price and Destiny, hiring Mike Shula in May and a 4-9 season.

- 2005 10 win season ---- lost to LSU and Auburn down the stretch, followed up by 6-7 season and coach being fired

It was basically the same run sans our 1999 SEC Title (which, of course, was followed up by crippling probation).

Nobody claims we are UTEP or something, but this weird notion that Alabama hasn't been bad before and all fans have known is glory and sunshine is really strange, especially from people who took great joy in how shitty we were (and let us know about it over and over and over) between Stallings and Saban.

I'm just saying its your perspective, I'm sure it seemed horrible to you, but probably 95% of fanbases have had stretches like that or worse in the past 30 years.

But it's all about perspective. Also, when that perspective is based around past successes that you as a fan didn't actually see or enjoy, it absolutely makes it worse.

My parents thought the late 90s/2000s sucked, but they remembered being in school in the late 1970s and growing up with the 1960s and 1970s. Most of us just had to listen to them talk about this era that seemed so far gone and unattainable that it both tainted "good" seasons because they weren't great and made the sucking that much worse.

In addition, when Alabama "sucks" or has embarrassing things happen the entire world notices and laughs at us. When State sucks nobody cares outside of the state of Mississippi.

Started watching Bama games with my dad in 77. Went to Bama for one semester while waiting on my delayed entry date into the Marines. My college degrees are from South Alabama and Haas business school. And yes, I was rooting for your ragedy arse team last year. Make of all that what you will.

bama fans are like.... friends of the rich kid. If bama was like Arky, aggies, Moo State or ole piss (and others... UGA) and haven't won shite in YEARS AND YEARS, then bama would have less fans.
