Would Bama have their full roster ready to go by Saturday?

Probably the same number. He suspended errbody for the Tennessee game in 2007 after the textbook fiasco.

Well, if it were to be because of a DUI or multiple, none.

Weed and guns, none.

I got nothing more.

Well it depends. Did they sweat in the sun or sit in the A/C?

Suspended 5 players the day of the Tennessee game in 2007 including 3 starters.

Saban suspends when potential eligibility is the issue and "corrects" when it is something non eligibility related. That seems to be the pattern any way.

Also, some act like the only way to discipline a player/correct the behavior is to take away a single game of football. Sometimes the more effective punishment is a series of corrections that will educate, discipline, and grow the person. Just my 2 cents.

That was 10 years ago.

What kind of suspensions have happened since, and for what?

The only time I ever really remember starters missing game was because of NCAA type problems.

For reference, here are players that have gotten in trouble: https://arrestnation.com/teamsschools/university-of-alabama/

Alabama was barely ranked if that before the Tennessee game.

That was 100+ wins ago.

That's what I was just saying. For NCAA eligibility related issues, they don't hesitate to sit a guy. For off field/non-eligibility related issues, he's always had a system of steps they have to take off the field in order to remain in good on-field standing. So far, all the players have completed those off field steps, which have included things like gun safety education, ride alongs, in-patient reviews to see if there is a substance abuse problem, community service, additional off field conditioning, and more.

My point is that Saban's philosophy has been more corrective than punitive when dealing with off field issues. That likely would be applauded if it was done at Vandy or a school where the player wasn't considered someone who could harm the team of those who are up in arms about it, but when Saban does it there's a problem for some reason.

I just think there are more ways to discipline a kid and correct the problem than to simply take away a game of football. If my son played there and made a mistake, I wouldn't care if it was an on-field suspension or off field discipline. My concern would be did it reach the kid's heart and mind and change the behavior moving forward.

I think the NCAA had a say-so in that.
