Alabama was also lucky the SEC schedulers decided to put Florida on TAM's schedule last year.
Being the favored program by the SEC schedulers paid off big time last year for Alabama.
Alabama gets to dodge Georgia this year with another custom tailored bridge schedule just for them. Some wonder if that is just luck, or double dealing.

OSU didn't "choose" to take a bowl ban at all. They were told, apparently by someone in the know, that NO bowl ban would occur so they went to the Gator Bowl...and then the bowl ban occured

What about the mulligan in 2011. Great run no doubt, but incredibly fortuitous. Between the schedule anamolies and the mulligans it is pretty amazing. Credit due for taking advantage.
