How is Pearl different from Freeze?

Not trolling, and it's a serious question. Pearl already has a track record with the NCAA and Auburn is basketball dumpster fire both historically and when Pearl arrives in campus. First thing Pearl does is bring in a top 10 recruiting class to a program that hasn't even sniffed the Dance in many, many years. In many ways, it's very similar to the situation Freeze walked into, but when he had instant success, everyone started questioning his methods and the NCAA comes nosing around. How is Pearl not catching any heat for his recruiting success, especially considering he's doing it again this year despite a lack of results on the court?

Ummmm, no.
Pearls first class was ranked #32.
Second class was ranked #15
Third class is ranked #10, but only because Wiley enrolled early, without him it wasn't even top 20
Current class is #37

Pearl invited 1 recruit to a BBQ when he was on an unofficial visit. Had it been an official visit it would have been allowed. He lied when asked about it or it would have been a very minor violation.
Freeze paid multiple players.
Pearl came in with a reputation as being a good coach with a long history to back it up and is very charismatic. Auburn as a school attracts recruits as seen with football, is right in the middle of several fertile recruiting grounds and we have a shiny new arena and facilities.
Freeze came in unknown having been a HS girls basketball coach not too long before, an ugly hick pumping the bible, some of the worst facilities in the country, and not a lot of recruits in proximity.
It's pretty fricking different

You are trolling or just stupid. Pearl has an awesome track record of success as a HC. Freeze was at Lambuth and Arky State. Pearl had a BBQ and lied about it. Freeze had assistants paying players. They are totally different

They just make shite up as they go along. They ignore the fact that several NCAA recruiting rules have been put in place because of saban's shadiness.

Wiley's mom and dad played at AU.
Other than Heron, the others are typical AU recruits.
Harper is a small point guard. Mclemore is a small power forward.
Purifoy is a home state guy.
We are awful on defense so IF we are cheating, I want a refund.

Aside from the fact they both know how to beat Bama's butt they aren't alike at all.

Year 3 and despite a lot of blustering and self-pumping from Pearl, all you've got to show for it is an early exit from the SEC tourney via Misery and a spot on the NIT bubble and a .500 record. Is that what you envisioned when you made this splash hire?

I think given the studs Freeze brought in, he underachieved.
Beat bam, can't beat Arky, blown out by State, killed in the Peach Bowl. Clearly lost the team at the end of last year. I'd like to see what a better coach would have done with that talent

I was being generous. Don't lose hope. Maybe the CBI will call Sunday.
Pearl has done one thing good for Auburn basketball: the cupboard will be better stocked for the next guy when he either leaves you or gets fired...probably with cause.
