All years we had a serious shot, but ok
Also we have polls claiming the '67 natty for us

have won 2 conference titles in the last 32 years.

Ok, Florida didn't win it's first natty until 1996

Not even close to comparable

Of the self-proclaimed 'Big Six', they have the least to really hang their hats upon.

10th all time in wins, 12 SEC Titles, 2 consensus national titles with four others that could be claimed. Yeah we got nothing.

Auburn

Has less wins, less SEC titles, and same number of consensus nattys

Florida

Was not relevant until the 90's, we also own the all time record.

LSU

Basically a carbon copy in nattys, wins, and SEC titles.

undefeated seasons

We've had those too

but I just don't look at them in anything approaching the same light as the conference's best teams.

Because you're incredibly ignorant on college football history. How old are you 15?

WTF? Do you even know what the word consensus means? If so, point out title #2 because you weren't even AP national champs in 1942

Good catch, they only have 1 consensus title.

I just went undefeated AGAIN in NCAA14. So we're up to 5 based on my current dynasty.

I've never understood this line of thinking, about Georgia being 'due'. They've had one serious national title shot (which they won) in the last 60 years, and have won 2 conference titles in the last 32 years. They consistently put out very good teams, but not title winners-- heck, of their 7 divisional titles, 4 of them are shared in the SEC divisional era.

There is a massive amount of talent in Georgia, it is true; the Bulldogs usually get their share-- but then again, so does Texas A&M in Texas, and they certainly aren't due.

Of the self-proclaimed 'Big Six', they have the least to really hang their hats upon. Auburn, Alabama, Florida, and LSU have played for multiple national titles or had undefeated seasons, since Georgia last won the SEC, and Tennessee has won a national title almost 20 years more recently.

I like Georgia; they're probably my favorite team in the East-- but I just don't look at them in anything approaching the same light as the conference's best teams.

I agree with all this.

I dunno. It must be something about Athens. There isn't the same fight in their players or fervor in their fans. Laid back coach. Very talented players who just seem to be winging it. Just the feel I get outa UGA. Always a bridesmaid never a bride type feeling.

Yes I know we lost last year. Not the point though. It's like somebody mentioning a Wisconsin or a Oklahoma State as a favorite for the National Title. You know they're not really being serious.

I missed the part where the AP was the only poll
We had more polls claiming us as #1, all OSU had was the AP and a couple others.

I know but the Arky poster claimed we only had one shot, so I guess this counts

Sorry just my honest assessment. It's not that Georgia isn't a very good program. They just seem to be lacking something. An "it" factor. It's not talent. It's not coaching most likely. It's just an overall attitude that permeates that I feel needs to be overcome to reach the pinnacle.

I get where you're coming from but you can't agree with him when he said we aren't on the same level as the other Big Six members when we have more SEC titles and wins then half of them.

There was a pretty reasonable split that year. It was far from "consensus"

And we've won 12/13 against them. They're clearly the better program.

You'd think so by their national championship count vs yours

Man, I hate to defend UGA but.....Kentucky has won an SEC title more recently in Football than Ole Miss.

These were the selectors in 1942:

Georgia: Houlgate System, Litkenhous, Poling System, Williamson System
Ohio State: Associate Press, Boand System, Dunkel System
Wisconsin: Helms Athletic Foundation
