They are fairly mediocre. Inconsistent and not great at pass blocking.

They are fine... better than most obviously. As far as pass blocking they are pretty good. Coker holds the ball way too long and still delivers the ball high and behind. He throws better on the run because the sidelines act as a clock for him to hurry up and throw it. Blake would have thrown for 4000 with this year with the same line. A large majority of the sacks are Coker's fault.

The run blocking has been great but inconsistent and when they are inconsistent it means large losses behind the line. When they are on, they are dominant. And they have been on way more than they have been off. Most of the tfl and false starts are usually negated by big plays from when they tighten up. We usually get 1st downs if someone jumps off early in the play 1st or 2nd down...

A mix of DH and our OL has been too much for anyone we've played to handle into the 4th.. you may be strong or tough but you will give in. We MTAQ

Depends on the play, it's not that they aren't good. It's that they are inconsistent.

Damn. You nailed in in the first response. I agree completely.

I disagree, particularly in the first part of the year our o-line was not good. Have played much more consistently since our bye week but still not close to the level of the o-lines seen in our prior championship years. Like you said, lots of tfl and negative plays, especially early on in the season.

- My qualitative ranking of mediocre / average is not meant to be considered in terms of all of college football.

Depends on who the refs are. Ritter and crew are officiating the game and they're the best OL in the country because they can hold all day and won't get called.

I find Ritter and his crew to be fair and honest.

The 1st part of the year has nothing to do with now tho. They are one of the top lines in the country now.. despite a few imperfections. I hadn't seen anyone I can say is better. But no team is flawless upfront.

I don't like comparing our units from the past it makes it hard to enjoy what we have. They are of the best this year.

Decent for the run game and suspect at pass blocking. They have improved as the season has progressed. At the beginning of the season they were killing us with penalties and missed assignments.

And they hold really well.

We've gotten much better about discipline and avoiding penalties, but we still have too many plays where one or more linemen just flat out miss their assignment. That's what makes the running game tough to establish - when we're on, we're unstoppable. But when we blow a play on first or second down, we're left with too many situations that call for a pass play.

The center is a man.

Cam Robinson is an elite talent.

They have a good offensive line, but 2011, 2012 were sort of all-time groups.

Just a frame of reference - those prior ones I mentioned were very good to excellent. This years is kind of average but trending upwards.

Others have pretty much summed it up:

1) false starts kill us.

2) It seems like they completely miss guys too often. I'm not talking about getting beat at the point of attack, I'm talking like, "oops, I should have got that guy running through the A gap to hit Henry right as he gets the hand off. "

Ya right side of the line seems to have a few "oh shite" moments every game. CRob seems to have gotten through whatever funk / injury problems he was having earlier in the season. The only thing that makes me pause is that we haven't really faced a very strong front 7 after the bye week.

I think they are good, and it starts with the center. They were sort of a question mark at the start of the season, but they do the job. Henry is very good, too, but he has to have that kind of blocking.

Even in the rivalry game. They punched Auburn in the mouth the last few minutes and put it away. What was it, 9 straight runs? Pass block is okay and Lane mixes things up, so that helps, too.

Combination of things.

They get flagged for holding far too much. Except when we're playing AU with Ritter calling the shots.

ITAT says they've mastered the art of illusion (hold) or paid off the refs or a combination of the two
