It seems that Bama fans think that they are not that good, while the rest of the country thinks they are superb. So what's the verdict? How good is it really?

Depends on the play, it's not that they aren't good. It's that they are inconsistent.

They get better as the game goes along.

Reminds me of their 2012 unit, which was the unquestionable GOAT.

Derrick Henry says they are pretty good.

They have 5,000 false starts, let the flood gates out on coker often, and are inconsistent in run blocking.

They aren't a strength.

The amount of TFL we have given up has been horrible... along with the false starts.

We average 6.42

In 2014 4.5
In 2013 4.3
In 2012 4.5
In 2011 5.4
In 2010 5.2
In 2009 4.7

We have improved though.. we were around 7.5 about 3-4 games ago. So to bring the average down that much is a big improvement.

Lots of false starts, and I feel like when the gameplan has to be adjusted due to a lead change or a few stalls they fall apart. This happened against Ole Miss and Tennessee, and to much lesser extents against Texas A&M and Arkansas.

The good thing is that Bama is 3-1 in those games, though, so just take that FWIW.

Its peaking at the right time. It was a hot mess at the beginning of the season. It's really become strong in the run game. Pass pro is still spotty, although cam is much better now that he seems healthy

Depends on who the refs are. Ritter and crew are officiating the game and they're the best OL in the country because they can hold all day and won't get called.

Good thing your Jackson has a bowl to melt in.

Solid in the run game though they've tended to allow too many negative plays. There has been improvement in that regard in recent weeks.

Pass protection has been downright bad for the majority of the season. It's gotten to the point that the passing offense consists 90% of WR screens and roll outs. Howard has been used as an extra blocker a good bit in recent weeks as well.

They are bad. We give up plenty TFL and false starts seem to trouble the tackles. Henry carries them. Kelly is the best one imo

I will say that as much as they haven't helped Coker... Coker hasn't helped them much either. We've struggled to throw the deep ball and that has allowed a lot of teams to stack the box against us on a regular basis with 8 and even 9 sometimes.

Both Auburn and Miss state did. Didn't pay as much attention to the other games.

Think we did this also.

They're obviously good, but I'd say they're below average by Alabama standards.

Really only notice the O-lineman when they are screwing up to be honest.

I noticed them a lot more to start the year than I have since the bye week.

They are very good on rush plays but suck on pass plays. The main reason Coker doesn't throw deep isn't because he can't it's because Kiffin doesn't believe our OL will give him time. I've never seen a Saban OL do a worse job of pass protection. At the same time they are opening enough room for Henry to dominate when the defense knows he's getting it. That's unusually good run blocking.
