I was wondering what SEC west team will get an upset this year, I now think it is AU.

I believe they will either upset UGA, ATM or Bama.

UGA/ATM more likely.

OK, if that's true - then to steal a phrase I keep hearing - who have they beaten??

An overrated Ole Miss AT HOME, barely.
A down Miss State AT HOME, barely.
Two non-con wins AT HOME, one decent, one ehhh.
And they got spanked by a legitimately ranked LSU.

If Missouri ain't beat nobody, then neither has Auburn.

What are you talking about? Most people are saying Mizzou is the "sleeper" in the East, and are giving them a good chance of beating UGA.

But to be honest, the situations aren't totally the same. This AU team will get better each week, as in '10 (the whole new JUCO QB thing).

We're reading different threads.

There is some MO love today, but still plenty of Mizzou ain't beat nobody.

I'm not really knocking Auburn, just throwing out the other side of the coin.

If AU keeps improving I like our chances against everyone we play, especially with UGA and Bama at home. Not saying we win then all, but not writing us off either.

AU fans are seeing this team put the pieces together. Very encouraging.

All true. However, here is the thing:

We are a team that IS getting better each week. It has really been apparent every single week of the season a better team sets foot on the field than the last week. We do have a new coaching staff so that is what you would hope foe, improvement as the staff and players work together throughout the season. The two true freshmen on our Dline get better every week and our best Dlineman is now back on the field, Ford (finally).

We have played 3 SEC teams, one Pac 12 team that is now 4-2, and both played Arky St. Mizzou?

Y'all beat a mediocre-to-shitty Ole Miss team that just came off a road game at Bama. Auburn fans need to slow your roll a bit.

It also seemed to me like Coats under played the pass they called an over thrown ball. He seemed to slow down a little just before the ball got to him causing it to be slightly over thrown. If he stays in full stride, you have a definite TD reception, assuming he doesnt drop the ball.

I was saying immediately after that play that if Coates had just kept stride instead of looking back what seemed to be at least 3 times, that would have been a TD. Glad somebody else at least thought that might have been on the receiver more so than the QB, or at least equally so.

True, but we are still too inconsistant.

Our offense has HUGE potential. Our Oline is extremely good, one of the better Olines in the SEC. Our running backs are very good and complement each other perfectly. But Marshall can run hot and cold passing and the receivers still drop too many. If we could get those two things corrected, our O will really be dangerous.

Looks like the combination of the coaches getting used to our personell on the Dline along with Monty and Lawson figuring shite out and starting to be difference makers, is making our Dline a strong one. Our secondary plays well overall, but is still not always consistant and often a step behind on a throw. Linebacking still has to get better.

Bottom line, all the talent is there we just do not have the consistancy YET.

Also, at home we are tough to beat period. Bama and UGA are in for a bit of surprise, the cakewalk they are used to is ending.

All at HOME. Narrow wins too.

Mizzou has spanked, SPANKED, a Big-10 and SEC team by large margins on the road.

So is that beating somebody or nobody?

They seem to be much improved and are better than expected. At minimum back to where they belong vs the MS schools. I like their DLine and OLine the most which is where games are won.

Right now I would say that TAMU, UGA & BAMA are all L's and the swing games are on the road vs two teams that look to be a step below them. But how will they play on the road? They've only played 1 game away from JHS and got smashed.

I wouldn't call the rest of their schedule favorable with three top ten teams and three SEC road games. Should be some good games. 8-4 is where I see them at the end and of the season.

So now you move the goal post from who has AU beaten to who has AU beaten by a lot on the road?
