Lets ask Alex Smith the ex qb at Utah how good Bama was when they took you behind the woodshed in the Sugar Bowl Mr Smarty Pants? Cat got your tongue?
And Alex Smith had already been in the NFL for 4 years when Utah played Alabama.
Edit: I did laugh at "Mr Smarty Pants" though.

Florida's already got a talented D. If they can bring in a really good QB and solid OL, they'll be a force to reckon with on both sides of the ball.
Answering the original question of the thread, as it got hijacked by the schedule folks.

Florida has the best in-state talent pool of all the SEC programs. Their defense with Muschamp should match Saban's at Alabama, and their new Boise St. offense with Pease should improve dramatically in the second season of its implementation.
Their non-divisional SOS with LSU every year is much tougher than Georgia's with Auburn or Alabama's with Tennessee; however, Georgia and S.Car are probably not as big a challenge as any of the big-3 in the West.
Florida should continue to be the dominate power in the East, and the equal to the best programs from the West in the foreseeable future.

Well, them and Texas A&M.
I'm curious to see how well a BSU offense works in the SEC. I know they used trick plays in the past, but I think that was to get over the talent gap. Florida, honestly, shouldn't need to rely on them (but will probably throw one or two in there to spice things up).

To be fair, if you're looking at SEC East permanent opponents, you have to look at South Carolina as well. Florida, right now at least, has by far the tougher opponent of the three. Arkansas was a Top 10 team just a couple of years ago, but graduations and their former coach's REALLY bad decision has left them as a bottom-half team, at least for the immediate future. The Chizik-debacle at Auburn has solidified them as outside the Top 3 of the West for the next couple of years, barring another Cam-like talent, so UGA has an easy go of it as well for theirs. Florida, with the LSU draw, has it the roughest.

Not something I would even bother debating :) I am curious as to what happened to them against Louisville... hopefully that wasn't a sign of things to come. After their shelling of FSU I honestly thought they were the best team in the East at the end of the season, but that bowl game made it hard to continue thinking that.

Imagine that, playing a permanent opponent every year.

Hats off to Bama, they are 7-1 against Tennessee, while Florida is only 4-4 against their permanent opponent.
Here's to to Bama's greatness!
UF is 8-0 against Bama's "permanent opponent" in the last 8 years

Florida's really not that good, they got mauled by Louisville

What happened was failure on the coaching staff of getting the team up for the game. None of the players wanted to be there (nor many of the fans for that matter). Alot of the players were more concerned with not getting hurt for the combine than giving 100%. I saw the same thing in the SECCG in 09. Not taking anything away from Louisville or Charlie Strong, but if UF would have played to their ability there would not have been a blow out. Would UF have won? I believe so, but the game would have been close either way.

Well, in all honesty, with a playoff, Florida should have been in it, and would have had more motivation

I agree with this, It sucks when one regular season game utimately determines the outcome of the post season.
