The obvious point is that even though Florida has dominated all of their divisional opponents during the past 8 years, they have only won the divisional title 3 times.

For some reason, the better team does not usually win the SEC East.

Georgia one is wrong. UGA won the last two and 07. Point taken though.

So that makes it 3-5. Not 2-6. Check your numbers

Thanks for the correction!

That reduces Florida's win percentage to 85% of their divisional games over the last 8 years, with only 3 divisional titles to show for it.

Well, last year they fell short because UGA beat them, USCe beat UGA, UF beat USCe, but LSU managed to beat USCe which kept it from being a 3-way tie.

One has to think if USCe manages the win, UF may very well have had the SECCG instead of UGA. I know UGA had the higher BCS ranking prior to the SECCG, but voters may have been less inclined to vote UGA higher with the weaker schedule than UF if there was a 3-way tie rather than boosting the head-to-head winner with there only being a 2-way tie.

Well, maybe. An interesting thought experiment but hard to pin down.

Only in 07 and 11.

How about 2012?

The Big-3 in the East beat each other much like the Big-3 in the West beat each other.

Georgia--East Champ--didn't have to play any of the Big-3 from the West.
Alabama--West Champ--didn't have to play any of the Big-3 from the East.

Oh wait, come to think of it, the SEC Bridge Schedule canceled the Alabama/Georgia game.

Who knew that little insignificant change would determine who would win both titles in 2012?

As pointed out, UF did win the SEC East in 2012. They were co-Champs.

One title. The winner would still have won their division.

Great to hear that! How did the SEC C.G. work out for your Gators?

Why did you make this thread? What's the point you're trying to make?

Not a single one of these stats has anything to do with the coming year. I personally believe they'll be the most overrated team in the country in 2013 besides Notre Dame. I almost feel bad for them considering they were taken to the woodshed by Louisville, lost a lot of talented defenders, and lost their two best offensive players, but still get hyped by the media as a top 10 team.

It's not as if I feel we're going to be much better, if at all better, this year. It's just that y'all are getting a ton of hype for having a head coach who hasn't completely proven himself yet, a VERY pedestrian QB who lost his best receiving threat and workhorse RB, and a D with a few holes to fill. I'm not sure how you don't feel the same way if you're being realistic.

Point being, the less games a team has to play against the Big-3 from either division is a good thing if your goal is getting to the SEC C.G. Don't you think?
