If you think Louisville is remotely close to UK in basketball then you're fricking insane.

The NBA drafts off of potential, so some of those guys who could be first round picks might not do well immediately. Archie Goodwin was a first round pick but an awful college basketball player.

Yeah Archie was terrible last season and ended up getting drafted in the first round. He then proceeded to be a beast in the summer league and will probably get significant PT for the Suns, go figure.

Marcus Lee would probably be a first round pick if he decided to leave after his freshman season, but I doubt he does all that much next season.

Kind of my point. The potential is there for a lot of these guys.

I think Marcus Lee, James Young, and Dakari Johnson are all guys who could go 1st round based on potential, but may need an extra year to lock it down.

The Harrison twins, WCS, Poythress, and Randle are all easily 1st round guys.

Yeah... we don't have all of those pre-integration NC's.

I think Poythress could go either way, but the other four will easily go first round.

Randle is a beast.

My point was that some of this potential won't necessarily show on the court this season, and also that a veteran who won't make the NBA can be more valuable than a freshman who has a higher ceiling. Will Yeguete more than likely will be playing in France professionally, but he's a fantastic college role player.

They still count no matter how much you don't want them too. Your program isn't dog shite compared to UK.

The rumors are that having Randle is really pushing him to another level.

I've seen as many National Championships that UK has won in my lifetime as UofL has in their history. I'd hope we've been integrated since the 80s.

And for the OP, while Louisville's athletic department is on the rise they have quite a ways to go. If I recall correctly they only have 2-3 NCAA championships in their whole athletic department. We have 10 (not counting Helms Titles like UNC does).

I will say that UofL is moving forward on multiple fronts and in multiple sports.

Will it continue long enough to change the school into a perennial athletic powerhouse like Ohio St. or LSU, is the real question.

The move to the ACC will help in the long run even if the teams records take a hit during the transition.

In all honesty I don't care about UK. The teams aren't even in the same conference and the games rarely count for anything more than bragging rights... 2011 being an obvious exception.

I know you guys own us, but show us a little respect!

Our all-around athletic department is second to none.

I would say probably not. It takes more then one or two years of success to even come remotely close to being that good.

The problem for UofL is in the ACC in basketball they will always play second fiddle to UNC and Duke. And in football, it remains to be seen how well they can do in a much better conference than the Big East or C-USA ever was week in and week out.

Right. It takes money and a dedication to put forth a top notch product. The AD is on a hot streak with his coaching hires and the school spends A TON of cash on the athletic program and it seems (for now) to be paying off.

Kentucky's basketball facilities are better, except right now the Yum Center is better than Rupp. Kentucky's lockerroom at Rupp is ridiculous though.

I have no idea about the football facilities. I know they have plans to renovate Commonwealth though

Nah. Just know I've been hearing this argument since UofL was an independent under Schnellenberger. That "collision course" must be the length of US Route 20.

The learning curve in Basketball won't be as steep. Football and Baseball will be a different story.
