#23 - Mercer

You lost to UF three times and Wich State. So thats 4 loses vs top 20 rated offenses. Iowa is 10, so that takes it to 1-4. Arkansas is #71. Mercer is 75th. Virgia is 20th. I overlooked them. So thats 2-4 vs top 20 offenses.

And ya, Iowa beat Michigan, but Michigan also beat them.

Michigan is 5-0 vs teams ranked higher in defense than UT.

-Mich. comes in at #8 for Total 3-point FGM with 301/756
-Mercer comes in at #13 for Total 3-point FGM with 290/756.

A hot 3 ball will beat any one in the country on the right night. That same team will lose to anybody in the country if they're not. See Duke and Mercer.

Ironically we were pretty hot on the 3 ball during our last game even though the announcers kept saying we were awful.

Gonna have to turn you down on that toast.

That said, that team had no right being in the tourney and Pearl's been gone for a while now. The teams then and now couldn't be any more different.

I'm not trying to disprove what you stated about UT being 2-4 against t20 total offenses. Regardless if 3 of the 4 losses that you're trying to use as a selling point came from the #1 team in the country and the other L being #2 Wich St. at home.

That to me says we can hang with and hold anybody in the country, regardless of the pace/style of play or points produced with the level of defense we're playing.

I like us in the paint, second chance points, total rebounds(Specifically offensive), and scoring defense. You like your guard play and how lethal you are from the 3. Completely different styles, both of which have positives and negatives. I like our chances

Not enough to say that we're going to win, but enough to say that we're a dangerous enough team, right now, to stay competetive/beat anybody in the country..

If you guys come out on fire and can't miss, it's going to be a long night. If you guys come out and shoot anything less than 40% and can't get those offensive boards, I think we win.

Like I said Arkansas is the 71st O in the country with Mercer being 75th.

Either way, you haven't played an offense as good as Michigans.

And I like Michigan to win because they are just a flat out better basketball team with better coaching and way more experience in the tournament.

UT can't win in college station, what would they do in Cameron Indoor? By the end of the year, Mich was better than Duke.

I love matchups of contrasting styles like UT/Mich... should be a great game.

Like I said, Iowa, Arkansas, and Mercer are all in the t25 in Scoring Offense. I'm using NCAA stats, DWI.

The only common opponent we have is Iowa. You played them twice, got your shite pushed in once and won by 8 the other meet. We won by 13, in OT on a neutral court.
But sure, we haven't played and beat an offense similar to Michigans.

Duke, UNC, Syracuse, Kansas, etc. etc all say hai.

I don't know about Tennesee, but Mich is playing like a well coach team, and the offense is clicking on all cylinders. They didn't even break a sweat in dismantling Texas.

I would try to duplicate whatever Kentucky did well in their win over Wichita St. Basically have to "out athlete" them...

Here's what Kenpom thinks of our odds.

Odds for the upcoming rounds (odds of reaching final included for SEC teams and Michigan - the list is also arranged by best odds to reach final with Florida currently having the best odds):

1S Florida - Elite8: 70.8% - Final4: 58.9% - Final: 38.5%
1W Arizona - Elite8: 72.6 - Final4: 50.7 - Final: 30.2
4MW Louisville - Elite8: 69.8 - Final4: 46.6 - Final: 27.9
1E Virginia - Elite8: 63.0 - Final4: 43.3 - Final: 24.0
***11MW Tennessee - Elite8: 54.4% Final4: 22.4% - Final: 10.1%

2W Wisconsin - Elite8 58.3 - Final4 23.0
4E Michigan St .- Elite8 37.0 - Final4 20.9
4S UCLA - Elite8 29.2 - Final4 19.5
***2MW Michigan - Elite8: 45.6% - Final4: 16.9% - Final: 6.9%
3E Iowa St. - Elite8 50.1 - Final4 17.9
7E UConn - Elite8 49.9 - Final4 17.9
8MW Kentucky - Elite8: 30.2% - Final4: 14.1% - Final: 5.7%
4W San Diego St - Elite8 27.4 Final4 12.9
6W Baylor - Elite8 41.7 - Final4 13.4
10S Stanford - Elite8 56.1 - Final4 13.1
11S Dayton - Elite8 43.9 - Final4 8.5

As you can see Tennessee is a slight favorite to advance over Michigan to the Elite 8 according to Pomeroy. It's important to note Pomeroy is predicative and based off how a team is playing at the moment.

UT rolls Meechigan. 73-64 Vols.

Stokes continues to dominate down low. Maymon has a double double as well.
