Pretty much seen the same as far as education goes. People usually choose state if they want to go engineering/architecture/meteorology/vet school/landscape architecture/golf turf management.

I can't remember if that's the name...but yeah. I knew a few people that came from different states to go to MSU for that major.

Same way one grows up to prefer DiGiornos to Papa Johns?
Also, I hear some people prefer Soviet-style architecture to antebellum. Dirty commies.

Had an uncle in Meridian that was a State fan and back in 1962 or so when I was about 15 and letting him know I was a diehard Gator fan...he told me about state and Ole Miss....he said "good common sense people go to State and shyster, lawyers and cons go to Ole Miss"

Believe it or not, it's very common for a student to visit ole miss and hate it and vise versa. And let's be honest. State and Ole Miss are about the only real options.

Yup.
Did learn a pretty cool trick from a State golf guy for the rare event the ball is on the edge of the cup.

Even harder to understand:
People that grow up as Southern Miss fans.

I think it's actually called Golf Pro Management or some crap like that. We're one of like 10 or 20 schools in the country that offer it, so lots of people come from all around. It's basically a really specialized business major.

Not to jab at Miss State or anything but they're pretty meh as far as athletics goes.
Couldn't the same be said for Ole Miss?

No. There is turf management, and there is professional golf management(pgm). State has top programs in both.

Some folks just grow up State fans, and hey I dont have a prob with that. My prob is some of their fans' obsession with Ole Miss.
I grew up with classy state folks (like some of our State posters on here ) and they are great people. People I grew up in the church with, played little league with, etc.
But good Lord, for every good state fan there are 3 more who are consumed with hate for Ole Miss. Just consumed with it.

Nope. They're champions. Their walkway and stadium say so.

That's a really good question. The off-season wouldn't seem as long if there were more threads like this.
