Because LSU fans are easily convinced each offseason that the next season will be their year. It's a cycle.

Seems like they don't see the need in investing in the basketball program because the fans don't support it. It's basically a catch 22. LSU fans have never supported basketball when they suck, ever. Honestly, since Dale Brown, they really have never supported basketball on the level you'd expect even when they've been good. So then you have Alleva not wanting to go out and invest on the program because he doesn't think LSU will get a return on their investment. Honestly, a lot of it, IMO, has to do with how successful, financially, the baseball program and has been for 25+ years. Really looks bad when the baseball program outdraws the basketball program every year in average attendance. And LSU fans, in general, care more about the baseball program too. It's a shame because the state of Louisiana produces more than enough talent for LSU to field a consistently competitive program in basketball.
