Dude. You've been destroyed on every point you're trying to make, even after you keep moving the goalposts. Just stop.

Yet another example, for the slow-witted:

quote:
Warren Gilbert Jr. told the Dallas Morning News that Coach R.C. Slocum, former vice president Robert Smith and others convinced him not to meet with investigators.

From your own link:

quote:

Smith's attorney, Dick DeGuerin, called the allegations a lie. "There are documents showing the efforts of both (Smith) and the school to get this guy to cooperate," he said.

Also, the Big 8 did not end, it expanded

Only 5 of the original Big 8 are still in the conference.

Last time I checked, going from 8 to 5 is not "expansion", nor is going from 12 to 10.

As far as killing the SWC, your school was the impetus. We saw an opportunity to move to the SEC once we caught wind that you were trying to move west.

Driving away Arkansas coupled with your puppet Dan Beebe being the lead investigator in bringing down SMU qualifies as bringing down a conference. If it weren't for Bullock, Richards, and their leeches, Baylor and Texas Tech would be left out in the wasteland with the other private schools and Houston.

The mark of quality leadership is that your organization thrives even when you do not.

That can be said of "Alabama running the SEC".

and reneged on your pledge to stay in the Big 12

Loftin said, "We are committed to the Big 12 in its current form"...his emphasis, not mine.

As soon as the Longhorn Network came into play, "its current form" ceased to exist.

Also, if you take anything Bill Byrne said as the official word on how the school will go, Byrne found out very quickly that the University President makes those decisions, not the AD. Something your school should look into.

I will say this though:

Change one letter in the thread title

quote:

How does Bama compare with tu in ruining a conference?

and the cow queens win by a landslide

The population center, wealth center, and TV market center is now on the west end of the SEC footprint.

There may be changes in the future.

I don't even know why they're so mad. They got away with it. Might as well own it since you basically have amnesty at this point.

They mad because they know they have nothing to show for their cheating.

The other sip trolls (Big12 fan, aTm's conference, etc.) have their faces on milk cartons right now.

I don't know. I've never been in a conference texas or Alabama has run.

I have heard a lot of bitching the the contrary though, and the bitching seemed a lot more legitimate in our old conference.

So, based on that, I like the conference where the one that's supposed to be in charge really isn't.

Once again, there's a difference between the boosters doing the dirty work, and the school itself lying to the NCAA and covering it up.

tu coaches did the dirty work as well.

quote:

It's like Nixon and Watergate, Clinton's impeachment and Obama/Benghazi... it's not necessarily the original crime, it's the cover-up and lies that gets you into trouble.

It is more like Holder and Fast and Furious in your case. When the head hancho likes you, and doesn't care, you have zero need to cover it up.

quote:

A&M flat-out lied to the NCAA. Repeatedly. So did SMU.

So would any SWC program at the time. The going rate for a blue chip player was 50-100k cash. Coaches did the recruiting. Including the ones in burnt orange.

quote:

I have yet to see one instance of the NCAA saying that Texas was anything but cooperative in the investigations. Instead, it's whine whine whine.

So what you're saying is, every other program cheated except tu?

quote:

Newsflash: You fricking lied to the NCAA several times. No remorse, no "we'll take our punishment," very few if any self-reported violations. Your "internal reports" whitewashed the whole matters.

You would have had to lie as well. You were doing everything we were, they just weren't coming after you.

quote:

You lied. Deal with it.

We did.

The thing you have to love about guys like texashorn is it isn't enough for them that they think of Texas as the biggest, best, and most powerful school of all time (which is a joke already). No, Texas is pure as snow and the model for all others to aspire to. Everyone else is a bunch of lying, cheating, bastards while Texas does things "the right way".

To be truly accurate, when Loftin pledged he was committed to the "current form" that "current form" still included Nebraska and Colorado. He made that statement when they tried to keep those schools in the conference.

In the end though, there is no question that Loftin and A&M did what was in their best interests just as any other school (especially Texas) does. Texas just ended up getting taught a lesson by their older and bigger brother in the process. They forgot that it wasn't 1980 anymore.
