I don't follow the need for ranking national championships much less from different groups.
True, I'll take any NCs that comes UFs way

I don't think you really can.

Basketball is closer to football than we'd like to think, but FB is and always will be the big dog.

It's an offseason thread. If this bores you, I won't be offended if you look for a Mizzoukills thread.

Everything is rankable in the off season.

As an Unbiased Auburn alum, I would rank them this way:
1. Swimming
2. Equistrian
3. Football
4. Basketball
5. Baseball
6. Other bullshite

You may be right. Here in Indiana, the IU and Purdue fans care about it more than football, while I personally enjoy it very much but will never be disappointed if my team is competing for national titles in football every year and struggling to reach the tourney in basketball. I'm sure all of us have personal bias on this one. But I think it's clear that it's number 2, and that it's far away more important than number 3.

1. Football, of course.
2. Basketball. Nowhere near as important as football, but far more important than all the other sports.
3. Baseball, women's basketball. Slightly higher than other sports, but far behind men's basketball.
4. Softball, men's and women's soccer.
5. Everything else. Track, golf, tennis, lacrosse, wrestling, anything organized and formally competitive (i.e., not intramural.)

For me anyway.
I wrestled in high school, and I know how absolutely ridiculous some of those guys are. I also play a fair bit of golf, so I actually follow that loosely. I really like what UA has done with the gymnastics meets as well as they are very enjoyable to go to.
There are a bunch of sports I don't really care for on this list, but I know which ones are important.

Rank
Use of that word should be a bannable offense in the offseason.
Offseason threads are rank.
good enough to not ban me?

How do you "rank" college national championships?
1. Any championship.
2. Runner up in any championship.
3. Competing for a championship.
4. Having a solid year, but falling short of competing for a championship.
5. Fielding a team.
Winning a championship in any sport is great. It means for that year your team was better than hundreds of other teams. Why not enjoy that? Maybe some of you guys who have them in abundance have become jaded by your success. "I would trade five championships in sport A for one in sport B!!" DIAF...

The titles we won in Jan 07 and Apr 07 didn't feel all that different . Beating OSU made it fun both times
Nah, it was definitely different IMO.
Beating OSU in football was by far more satisfying after all the shite that was said about UF leading up to that game.
In basketball, UF was clearly the better team than OSU, and I expected UF to win pretty handily (OSU never really challenged UF after the first 7-8 minutes of that game).

College Football and College Basketball are Semi-Pro national championships involving Athlete-Students.
The highest level of "amateur" sport in America is College Baseball.
So College Baseball is number 1 when ranking Student-Athlete national Championships.
