I bet you're a blast to hang out with.

You either:
1. Didn't attend Auburn and therefore have no ties to the university besides watching the football team

2. Have no real friends that you enjoy seeing at games and spending time with.

3. Put way too much of your self worth into the outcome of games you have no control over

Because football is fun to watch? It's pretty simple.

Do you realize how deep we are going to go inside if you in front of your own home crowd in a few months?

As others have mentioned...because college football is fun to watch.

And in my case, there's always a sliver of hope because I've heard there's a merciful God. Unfortunately, he's had Mizzou on his "Smite" list for the last few years.

Support your alma mater and use trips to the game as a chance to see old friends, visit the campus, and create life long memories with your family.

Realize that the game is supposed to be an escape. Only one team wins the SEC. Only one team will win the national championship. Don't tie your self worth to the performance of young men playing a game.

Your well-stated, rational response is making it difficult to enjoy the constant baiting and trolling.

The only team that has zero shot is Ole Miss. They are ineligible.

But it's a good thing you are an Auburn fan. You are used to having no shots at beating your in state rival.

Even though Ole Miss can't go to the postseason I'm going to be excited because I still think we're going to have a prolific offense I think that our defense is going to be actually pretty decent and I think they were going to play spoiler for a lot of teams and I just think that generally it's going to be some exciting football games to watch I think that all this will probably go 7 wins or maybe even eight wins and I'd be pretty damn ecstatic by that to be honest I typed this with my voice cuz I'm driving so that's why some of it doesn't make sense

3/4 of those teams had "a shot" in the past 5 years

No they didn't. You're a Mississippi State fan and you wouldn't know what a "shot" was because you've never had a real one so I understand how you're confused, but allow me to educate you:

- Ole Miss - their best season in the last 5 years they lost 3 regular season games that included a 4 TD blowout and another blowout loss to freaking Memphis. Beating Bama does not mean you have a "shot" at winning anything relevant.

-Mississippi State- 2 regular season conference losses. Couldn't make SECCG. Lofty midseason rankings are meaningless. Especially when you're Mississippi State and everybody knows it's a matter of time til it all comes crashing down. Mississippi State will never have any kind of real shot, the universe would not allow it.

-Mizzou- technically closer than the other 2, but everybody knew they didn't have a shot in hell to win either SECCG

We actually beat them more and more often than anybody else.

Nice try though

I wouldn't trade Alabama's success over the past nine years for anything. It's been one hell of a ride. But, I used to get way more excited for individual games back when we were shitty and didn't have a shot of winning anything or of beating the better teams in the conference. But I believed, dammit. Maybe it's just because I was a younger man then, but the games were more fun, even if the seasons were less so.

It's all relative. When your team is middle of the pack, a win over other middle of the pack teams is exciting and an upset win over a big dog feels like a championship. It's actually easier to stay excited over the course of the season when you know your team is going to have to fight like hell in most of its games. Providing they win their fair share of course......
