How can you be the national champs if you can't even win your division?

That question hasn't changed now that we have a 4 team playoff instead of two.

HOWEVER, I never bought that argument, and I'm fully supportive of LSU getting a rematch if we both win out. Just reminding some of my Tiger friends that they are changing their tune.

Me neither. It happens in lots of sports at every level. The two best teams in the country could conceivably be in the same division. It's that simple.

Yeah, but LSU is not that good. Would hurt their rep to get in over another team, and get dominated.

We match up well against LSU, and we shellshocked them. They won't face another front 7 like that, and if they face us again, it will be closer.

We aren't as phenomenal and they aren't as futile as what we saw Saturday.

LSU doesn't deserve a playoff spot if Alabama wins out.

You can't.

Shut up, Junior. You don't know what a legitimate division, or conference, looks like.

Their D has been suspect all year. Clemson, OSU, and Stanford would kill LSU.

Yes you can. All college and pro sports have at larges and wild cards. And Alabama wasn't the first to be given that opportunity in CFB

The argument was only made because deep down they knew they'd blow OKST out and Bama could beat them. They continue with it as an emotional reaction to their best team getting embarrassed in the title game. It's understandable, though I'm still gonna get downvoted to hell for bringing the truth.

And I welcome it.

tOSU and Stanford have struggled greatly against teams far weaker than LSU. That statement can't be supported.

disagree, as I said in 2011 show me where one must win a conference to play in the title game.

It would be an honor to play LSU again if it actually happens. Much respect for their football program. Heck... half their players we tried to recruit. I get what your point is... but an old proverb is wise...

Say little when you lose... say less when you win.

Alabama has actually won a national championship without winning their division...
1941 Alabama came 3rd in their conference and 20th in the AP poll.

Not a legit title, wish we didn't claim it.

But 2011 is the year you are looking for.

LSU doesn't belong in the playoff, man. Especially if there is another 1 loss team with a conference championship in a p5 conference. But hey, I won't complain if it happens.

And if they made it, they aren't in the NC game as your subject implies. They'd be in the playoff. That's much different.

And don't give me the whole "well the BCS was a playoff too just with 2 teams" because that's, by definition, incorrect and disingenuous.

Yeah I know 2011. I just figured I'd throw a ridiculous example out there. Haha.

This thing we have is not a playoff either, and is disingenuous to call it one. It is much closer to the BCS than a legit playoff. As long as you can have a team go undefeated and still left out of a chance to win the championship, you don't have a playoff.

But I'd like to see LSU go as far as possible. I think they'll be playing with a serious chip on their shoulder from here out, and the talent is there.
