Everyone is (rightfully) assuming that if nothing changes, Nutt is gone on 1/2/12.

Is there anything he can do? Ignoring wins and losses, can he fire any coaches and keep his job? What if he hires a shot shot OC?

FWIW, if I'm UM I'm hiring Art Briles as HC in January.

Well, he is looking at 3-4 wins max. Not sure how you save your job with that piss poor of an effort.

A Bowl game and Bowl win might save him...might

Like either is going to happen.

Doesn't a Nutt firing ensure Ole Miss is paying 3 coaching staffs?

Remember, he was still able to leverage the Colorado job opening for a contract extension 1 or 2 years back.

Jimmy Sexton will save it for him.

Short of obtaining photos of Ole Miss power brokers in compromising situations, very little.

If he wins 6 out of the next 8, he will stay.

But we all know that won't happen

Take a look at the remaining portion of Ole Miss's schedule.

If the Rebels win a total of 5 games this year Nutt may just walk on water.

Sexton and Colorado had nothing to do with it. We came off no winning seasons with O and he won 16 games in his first 2 years, including LSU twice. Any school in our spot would have done the same thing. We just didn't know he was going to give up after that.

He'll probably come out in a few weeks and say that he's been so distracted dealing with his brother's bwain that he hasn't been able to focus on coaching. But if they just give his brother 2 years to get well, Nutt'll right the ship.

I'm positive he will beat someone this season that he's not supposed to. He always does. Not sure that'll be enough.

It was supposed to be LSU. Somehow he even messed that up. Should've known it was time for his exit then.

Briles will not leave the state of TX especially for the Ole Miss job.
