All our JRs are probably gone, but that is the norm. College SRs lose so much dang bargaining power. We may be able to keep a bullpen guy.

We got hit harder in the draft for signess. We lost 2 pitchers that we likely needed to get in, at least one of them. We're in need for high end starting arms so I would expect to go JUCO now. We also lost a stud 2B/SS but we can get along just fine with what have and have coming in.

DVH wasn't joking when he said Jackson Rutledge wanted to come to college and was a really good student.

Priced himself out of the draft as a 6'8 RHP that has hit 94 mph.

Fun fact Arkansas will have a RHP from MO and LHP from LA both named Jackson Rutledge (if they make it through fall ball).

That's pretty crazy considering their first nor last names neither is too common.

If Hill comes back then it'd be huge. How often down a guy turn down MLB 2x in college.

Actually, it appears we're going to come out of it relatively unscathed. Meyer doing work keeping another Top Ten class together.

That was the thinking before the draft, but you have to assume that he was selected when he was because he worked out a deal with the team to take below slot so that they could use it on someone else. That only works if he signs (otherwise, the club takes the full slot hit for that pick), so I'm sure he's gone.

We were getting our hopes up about Sherff, but it turns out that was probably all a Scott Boras smokescreen. Still, not too bad of a result for A&M if we can get our high school guys other than Scherff, Hall, and Conlon, and who knows, we might get a Sherrod or Chafin to come back rather than sign for little or nothing (not counting on it, but it would be a nice bonus).

It's pretty early to speculate on a lot of these kids because from rounds 20-35ish it isn't as much about the round as much as how much money teams have left after signing top 10 round picks a lot times.

Pre draft deals dominate baseball now.
You better have your phone handy during the MLB draft, they will call, make you an offer, you have one minute to decide, take it or leave it.

that's how they got Enlow this year

Most of the rules with slotting and things of that nature is due to Boras - you don't need Boras representation in the draft anymore.

He would find the loophole and he had players sitting out an entire year to reenter the draft just for extra money, some of who might never see MLB.

You only need Boras for your second MLB contract.

That's what is so weir about our top prospect, Alex Scherff. He was projected as a late first rounder, but fell because of signability concerns (he is a Boras client who was throwing around a big number that would be required for him to pass up on school). But then, he apparently works out a deal with the Red Sox in the 5th round--some are even saying the deal is below slot, which I have a hard time believing, but I could believe that it's well below what he would have gotten had he told teams he was signable. I don't know if this is a case of the client going rogue when a team he really liked offered to draft him, or if this is some new kind of Boras play--since he can't get his clients more money now, is he telling them that he'll engineer it so that they end up in the organization they want, where their first free agent contract will be a big one? That would really be playing the long game (and very unlike Boras).

Auburn lost Evan Steele. Probably have top 3 recruiting class with Burns, Williams, and Greenhill coming in.

Ironically, we actually did better without a head coach than we have in the past WITH a coach... guess the recruits want to play for the new guy.
