Mississippi State got hit HARD with 10 signees drafted with 5 likely gone and a sixth saying he will have to wait and see.
Reynaldo Rivera: Rd 2, Pick 57- Detroit Tigers (GONE)
Quentin Holmes: Rd 2, Pick 64- Cleveland Indians (Gone)
Troy Bacon: Rd 4, Pick 110- Atlanta Braves (Gone)
Pearson McMahan: Rd 4, Pick 116- Colorado Rockies (Gone)
Tyreque Reed: Rd 8, Pick 254- Texas Rangers (Gone)
Bryce Hutchinson: Rd. 12, Pick 367- New York Mets (50/50)
Tanner Allen: Rd. 36, Pick 1,035- Chicago Cubs (Going to MSU)
Josh Hatcher: Rd. 39, Pick 1,165- Los Angeles Angels (Going to MSU)
Chad Bryant: Rd. 39, Pick 1,184- Texas Rangers (Going to MSU)
Jordan Anderson Rd. 39, Pick 1214- Texas Rangers (Going to MSU)
I know LSU, Florida, Ole Miss and Vandy got hit hard early on in the draft with their top signees.

Not having a coach may make it a little worse for SC.

Arkansas came out pretty well.
Blain Knight returns and we get 4 of the top 5 signees of the class coming in.
We lose 3 signees, one of which was expected. The other two aren't major losses or nothing that we can't overcome.
The starting 2B and LF/DH guys didn't get drafted either, so they will be back as seniors.
With the return of Knight, Campbell coming back from TJ surgery (he has 1st to 2nd rd draft potential and would have been the ace of the staff last season), Murphy as our 3rd starter (he shutout Florida in the SECT), depth in the bullpen for once, and a deep bench with a lot of potential, the future looks bright for the Hogs.
We have a solid weekend rotation, a deep bench, and plenty of talent and depth in the bull pen. It should be a fun season next season.

We only had 1 commit go pro and he was always likely to go that route.

Who was the guy that manieri got pissed with Cannizzaro that he kept recruiting to miss state?

I hate how teams pick high schoolers in the last couple rounds like they're actually going to sign. Why wouldn't they let a senior in college have that opportunity

The first Vandy signee wasn't picked until 24th round. We think they're ALL coming to school. Will likely be #1 class if that's the case.

That's a good point-- hasn't thought about that.

Nope. Vandy didn't have a signee drafted until the 24th round.

Let me guess. Y'all could have had many drafted high but they opted to attend Vandy
40 rounds is ridicules. They need to scale it back and do something about this MLB draft.

I really hate how MLB teams have figured out their incentive issues. They draft HS talent late, but offer them the lions share of the available Signing Bonus money. Signing Bonus money that they've saved by hanging college seniors out to dry, 'cause seniors have no negotiating leverage.

Load up on seniors especially in rounds 8-10 so they can stash that signing bonus pool money for tougher signs.

The Braves second pick at 42 overall had committed to UGA.
Hope he signs with the Braves.

Losing a lot to the draft isn't inherently a bad thing. Shows other kids that playing at said univeristy is impresionable.

Yep, and they can draft highly coveted prospects in lower rounds. The higher prospects then have to negotiate from the position of a lower draft pick than their talent would suggest.

Tanner Allen was the recruit LSU lost to MSU.
LSU is losing Pearson RHP, Pearson OF, Bechtold IF, Enlow RHP.
LSU lost Keller RHP but he decided on JUCO to stay draft eligible
LSU will likely lose Sanders RHP
We are keeping Storz and Cabrera who were drafted late and turned down earlier picks.

That is why rounds 11-12 are danger zones on early day 3 because if a signee goes they've worked a deal overnight with a team.
