Mizzou fans really didn't understand their own situation, which is a sign of a really bad fanbase, and it led to a mistake of gargantuan proportion that won't be fully realized for 15-20 years.
Mizzou doesn't have a core base that maintains truthful narratives. It's a fanbase that isn't tethered to a core of thousands of people that truly understand the program on a deep level.
Because of this they lost a good one, and because of human nature most will not be able to concede the mistake.

This is nothing but Mizzou's way of coping.
He was never welcomed by Mizzou fans - it was disappointment from day 1, Mizzou thought they deserved an established high level coach.
His teams offenses broke records in the SEC. How quickly that was forgotten.
He took over Mizzou at a time that is impossible to calculate the real cultural damage, and he was still dealing with these issues from the previous regime in his final season.
He proved to recruit real football players, amid incredible challenges.
The fact is Mizzou fan boys were never happy and they were constantly looking for a way to get him out.

Many variables played into a false narrative spreading like wildfire.
MANY people in football see it, too bad the people that were supposed to see it the clearest couldn't, and still don't.
