I think the right call would be a hard squib kick directly at an up man. If he grabs it without a knee on the ground, the game ends.

Was surprised by the call - thought it was taking a huge unnecessary risk. It could have put Bama in a position where a hail mary would have won it. Or, if the up man fields it and breaks one tackle, he's off to the races.
Another question for the board - why was the pass interference call against Bama placed on the 2 when the contact occurred outside of the end zone? If that penalty is half the distance to the goal and 6 seconds remaining, Clemson probably kicks the FG instead of running the last play. Seems like the right call would have been half the distance and not on the 2.

I agree, that was absolutely brilliant. The Bama guys knew they had to either fair catch or run it back for a score. The up guys for Bama didn't want to touch the ball because it would start the clock. And also the entire Clemson coverage team was right there to tackle anyone who tried to scoop and score. The Bama guys actually backed out of the way. Freaking brilliant psychological warfare.
