A lot of new construction is on the horizon. From LSU, if no one else.
So it makes sense to keep it around till the announcements.

Groundbreaking on the Tiger Athletic Nutrition Center is scheduled for this spring.

ABOUT THE TIGER ATHLETIC NUTRITION CENTER
The Tiger Athletic Nutrition Center will serve as a resource to provide individualized nutritional meals for student-athletes at LSU. Full time chefs and nutritionists will be housed in the facility to provide expertise on balanced and nutritional diets to enhance this aspect of the overall athletic training process. Healthy and proper eating choices combined with state of the art strength training will provide these young people with a complete fitness regimen while competing at LSU.
The nutrition center will include a large dining room, kitchen, lounge area and a “fueling station” open extended hours, according to renderings. A concrete plaza encircles the building, which adheres to the campus’ Spanish-style architecture.
Renderings show a facility with a Spanish tile roof and archways across its front. There is seating in an outdoor plaza area that’s marked with trees.
The facility will serve all LSU athletes. Athletes currently eat in student dining halls. Most Southeastern Conference teams have athlete-only dining halls or are in the process of building athlete-only dining halls.
LSU director of sports nutrition Lauren Reagan said student-athletes take a toll on their bodies. The nutrition center will help reduce the strain on their bodies, she explained. Student-athletes currently have access to three fueling stations across campus, which are primarily used for post-workout nutrition or snacks, rather than providing a full meal. The 22,500-square-foot facility will not only provide full meals for the student athletes, but also educate them on nutrition. “We have dietitians in there that can educate them while they are eating as opposed to text messages or emails sending pictures of their plates from home,” Reagan said.
The nutrition center will feature a chef capable of providing balanced meals to assist the student-athletes recover from their rigorous lifestyle.
The Tiger Athletic Nutrition was funded entirely from private donations collected by the Tiger Athletic Foundation. TAF president Rick Perry believes the nutrition center is a necessity for our student-athletes, and not a luxury.

FYI, this is what a "fueling station" looks like at LSU:
quote:
As LSU “Healthy Tiger” fueling stations offer, a big lineman stopped on his way from lifting weights to changing into his practice uniform. He surveyed the smorgasbord laid out before him in the football practice facility, grabbed a beef jerky and a plum, and moved on. And Jamie Meeks nodded and smiled.
“Now the athletes, no matter where they are, at the football facility, at the Cox Academic Center or at the north stadium weight room, they have a place to grab a snack,” she said. “In the mornings we have hot breakfast sandwiches.”

Did I hear correctly that A&M just finished a half a BILLION dollar facility upgrade? Jesus, man this is getting out of hand. And I thought our jumbotron project was overkill (and it was only $14 million or something).
Anyone else feel these schools are neglecting academics? I am all for football, but man I feel as if we should be spending money on more important things. Spend some on football, sure, but half a billion is crayze.

Contract for O'Dome renovation signed. $65 million project. Early construction starts in next couple of months before full construction after this basketball season.
Good to hear. Put more pressure on LSU to replace the PMAC.
