Y'all do realize that brick of this type and size whether on houses office building or larger structures is not load bearing.....ever

The pre-done panels look much nicer and much cleaner than if you were to go the very labor-intensive route of actually laying the brick and mortoring it all the way up. the lines would be sloppy it would be probably almost impossible to maintain the lines over such a large structure this is the only way to do it and make it look professional

You'd think for $500M one could afford proper bricklayers

He should have just said the schedule would not allow for conventional masonry instead of making up that crap about shoddy work.

Because the construction inspector at UA would allow shoddy masonry work. Seeing how he was VP at one of the largest masonry companies in the SE.

I hate UA, but they constructed a god damn cathedral that is called BDS.

Can't really compare the size of the areas on the two structures.

It's just not going to look as refined

Some may say that There is a beauty in the flaws of hand laid but I would disagree and say the perfect lines and perfectly smooth mortar finish makes for a better finish

Most brick is hand-laid as a veneer on top of a footing or steel angle. The panels are a newer method to 'install' brick. You probably do get a more consistent aesthetic, but not enough to tell a difference. If the brick soars beyond 15' above the ground, no one will be able to tell.

The walls of old brick buildings were pure brick (quite thick). Today, all brick is just a veneer usually laid in front of a concrete, cmu, or stud wall with a ~1" air gap in between along with some other stuff.

BDS has very little brick facade. It's not an apples to apples comparison to Kyle Field, which nearly the entire stadium has a facade.

Are you Ags a bit sensitive to the brick-like panels? I mean, it doesn't look bad, but you can see the seams. A&M was under time constraints and decided to forego hand-laid bricks whereas Bama and Tennessee decided to invest the time and money. There are no seams, and the brickwork on those stadiums is damn fine.

I'd be more upset about the exposed erector set on one end zone. A&M definitely should have figured out a way to pour concrete supports like LSU on its expansion.

The brick like panels are made of 100% real brick.

What is your point exactly?

No it's about the quality of the finish it's like comparing a granite countertop to someone using ceramic tile and grouting it on the counter
