A&M has spared no expense. Even if you fall on your back, you're still forced to embrace the bevel

LSU has opened Cypress Hall, it's newest Residential College, that also happens to be LSU's first LEEDS (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified residence hall...
...the new hall caters to majors in the College of Human Sciences and Education. It will house 330 students.
LSU Welcome 2015 - Cypress Hall
Edit: Spruce Hall, an almost exact replica of Cypress Hall, will soon start construction next door.

Construction on Spruce Hall this semester will bring in another 421 beds. LSU tries to market the on-campus lifestyle to reel in incoming students to want to live under an iconic red-tiled roof.
LSU says it will continue to build new dorms while updating older ones to expand on the 5,853 total beds on campus.

Lime stone, archway, and light red brick it looks like it should be apart of A&M's newer facilities.

Until someone comes up with a stucco-type finish that's as cheap to build and as easy to maintain, I expect to see more buildings done in this style. There's already quite a lot of them on campus.
Where we part company is the red tile roof. Edit: it will be mostly stucco when done:
The icing on the cake will be the roof deck patio with big screen tv and barbecue...

I wonder what time of day that was done? My south zone seats and my west side seats were all in the shade

I wonder what this guy thinks about that logo? I'd pay good money to be standing behind his shoulder when he first sees that pic.

Looks nice!
Kudos to LSU for jumping on the LEED certified building bandwagon but I'm actually surprised it took this long..
At SC, our first LEED certified building was West Quad, a residential hall aka the "Green Quad".. completed in 2004 and certified LEED silver. Then we built the Honors Residence Hall in 2009, certified LEED gold. Just last year we completed the new Darla Moore School of Business, certified LEED platinum (an amazing building filled with natural light and views, might I add). Our next LEED building will be completed next year... our new School of Law.. and we are aiming for LEED platinum in that building as well.
Aiming for LEED certification increases the price of a construction project quite a bit but the recognition that comes with completing a project is worth it. SC received a lot of positive publicity for building the Green Quad because at the time it was the largest LEED certified residence hall in the world. to LSU

That was blazingly fast. It took UF seemingly a month to build an IPF...
Meanwhile in Columbia, we're still finishing ours. It's going to be a beauty though!

Is A&M aiming for LEED certification with this new building?

I wouldn't be surprised. Several universities are requiring all new buildings to have at least the lowest (LEED Silver) certification.
I hate LEED BTW...it's quite a flawed system, yet it receives so much hype.
TAMU's new engineering building does look sleek though, and you would assume engineering would go on inside. You can tell they're willing to spend some money on it. It almost looks like a building by Morphosis
Too many new buildings on SEC campuses look like shite because they are all built on such a pathetic budget.
