I really don't care about other teams or where they end up. The SEC has a proven formula of success and if they water that down with more teams, the SEC we know and love will be no more.

Adding Texas and OU is enough... probably too far but at least with a team or two, they have to conform to SEC culture. Adding a buttload of teams at once will ruin the league.

There isn't another team I care to join. This is a powerhouse regional league that can't be beat. I'd be just fine with stopping at 16.

To be honest, I wish we had stopped at 14. That was too much with an 8 game conference schedule. The they add OU and Texas which are already in so I have to deal with that.

No more!

I wish they would have stopped at 10. But expansion will continue, and yes, IMO it will ruin the sport.

And then we will break up in to two divisions of 12. We could call one the Southeastern Division and the other the Southwest Division. They could then play a championship game against each other in the Sugar or Cotton Bowl perhaps.

12 wasn't so bad because it allowed them to add the SECCG. It was just the rule that you had to have minimum of 12 teams in 2 divisions to have that game.

Everything after that has been purely for money when the sport is already loaded with way more money than it actually needs.

Football revenue carries the athletic department... You get all you can because expenses will continue to rise.

Wishful thinking, but that is all it is. They way it is going, I would bet by 2025 we will be at 20 teams.

I'd be fine going back to 10 teams. THE 10 teams that made this conference.
Fck Roy Kramer in more ways than one. I know I sound like an old fart but I miss
The tie in with the Sugar Bowl
The old TBS saturday morning game with Bob Neal and Tim Foley
The skywriters tour
Bama playing UT and Auburn at Legion Field.
All games NOT being on Tv
Bama's original crimson before Nike fcked it up
Georgia jerseys with stripes on the sleeve and no trim around the numbers
LSU's shoulder stripes going completely around the shoulder
Florida wearing orange jerseys
Ole Miss's traditional gray pants with EVERY game.
Players wanting to play in ANY bowl game
Teams in Texas being in the SWC
The Cotton Bowl being played in the...Cotton Bowl
ABC televising the SEC
Coaches like Johnny Majors, Charlie Mac, Shug, Bear, Vince Dooley, Johnny Vaught, Emory Bellard, Jerry Claiborne roaming the sidelines in a tie and never showing their arse but being respectful of every opponent they played.
The wishbone
stadiums that seated 70K
Going to any venue in the SEC and parking wherever you could find a spot....for free.
Tickets being 25 bucks

The SEC is about to be dead. The original schools are now going to be watered down with a bunch of outsiders.

Yeah. I'd prefer telling Texas and Oklahoma that the SEC changed their mind and to make amends for any hard feelings the Big XII can have 8&4feit and Missouri back.

If we see value in adding nd, Clem, fsu, we will.

But I like the billion dollars plus divided by 16 and not 24.

I like Southern football. With this many outsiders, the whole concept of the SEC is gone. It's one thing to add a team or two at a time and make them conform. Adding a group of 6 at one go is a mistake. Mark my words.

Besides the nostalgia for the pre-expansion SEC, there is a very practical reason not to go beyond 16, which is that it effectively becomes 2 conferences due to scheduling limitations. We've seen this with 14 because of the divisional setup, but we are on the cusp of correcting this. But, if we go bigger, there is nothing that can be done within the context of a 12 game schedule (with no more than 9 conference games) in order to ensure that everyone in the conference plays everyone else within a reasonable time frame.

I don’t foresee any more major realignment for the next decade or so. The ACC is locked up tight with their GOR and Notre Dame is still happy being independent.

There will be no additions to the SEC that aren’t similar to the OU/Tx acquisition. We will be rolling in money and it would be senseless to add any more teams.

The Big Ten has called a halt to expansion for a while, too. They know Notre Dame won’t join and will only make a move if the SEC does first. That pattern is now well established.

I think we can all settle down and watch the NIL do its thing. It’ll be interesting.
