Edit: one of those years he has Jay Cutler and lost to MTSU in a game that would have made them bowl eligible. 3 losing seasons in a row, was retained, and went to a bowl in year 4.

Nutt was treated even more leniently than Bobby Johnson at Vandy. Nutt's back-to-back seasons were under his own recruiting and after 5 seasons at head coach.
Not even Bobby Johnson at Vandy was treated with as much leniency as Nutt at Arkansas.

The answer to the question is that Bret's seat will warm up next year without vast improvement, maybe not hot but a little warm.
Nutt is a guy the claims to love the university yet transferred to OK lite when he wasn't good enough to start here. He is still butthurt over the way he left and not being in the U of A HOF. He does have (in his mind) and axe to grind with the school and fans.

He fired himself. Hiring his under-qualified mistress ahead of qualified applicants opened the university to lawsuits.
