Will he be fired this year? 2 opening game loses in 2 years to teams ole Piss should beat and Miss St should roll them up again this year.

If they knock off a casino they MIGHT could pay his buyout. Otherwise it doesn't matter if he wins or not he's coming back next year.

I don't know honestly, I know they gave him an extension and upped his buyout before last year. 8 million or so maybe? I'm sure an MSU fan will pop in and let us know, LOL.

I agree. Ole miss would like to think that they are a big time program but nobody really gives a shite about them. They are a joke. miss st has bypassed them and its way harder to recruite to starkville vs oxford. All the money that school has and they are still a "mid major" level at best as far as college football is concerned.

yep. Ole Miss is horrible and has been for quite a while. Another Manning couldn't even save them from the well of shite they've dug for themselves. They haven't been relevant in so long; they might as well kill themselves

I'm getting sick of Nutt. I said all offseason that he had just one bad year and we shouldn't throw him under the bus for that. Today's performance, especially on the offensive side of the ball, made me sick at my stomach. If he doesn't turn this season around and AT LEAST get us to a bowl, then I say fire him.

By the way, I believe his buyout is 6 million. Not 100% on that though.

You know what sucks, he's gonna talk about how close we were. He'll point to Stoudt's fumble, Brassell's dropped touchdown catch, and so on. He'll talk about Bolden's injury (which is horrible for us and Brandon) and use that as some sort of excuse. He'll talk about, I dunno, ropes and chinstraps and stuff.

The thing is though, we showed that we've got the talent to have really fricked BYU sideways. Our DEFENSE actually played really good football against a very talented and capable BYU offense. All we needed was a few more first downs and we'd have beaten them by two scores. Yet we couldn't get it all together.

And I don't by for one second that David Lee's calling plays. I know Nutt says he was, but come the frick on, what's with him calling all the timeouts and shite if he's NOT the one calling plays.

ETA: Yes, the buyout is $6M. Do not be shocked if we have that already. I've heard rumors that there's more or less a Vaught Society escrow account in place holding money for this type of thing.)

I'm a big OM hater, but I think OM has the ability to be a decent program with all the talent in Mississippi. They just need the right coach to get them there, and I don't think Nutt is the guy.

The problem with keeping Nutt is that he will probably have a breakout year next year, continuing his pattern of two decent years and two bad years. After that season he will want an extension and MORE money, digging OM into a bigger hole. OM needs to fire him when they get a chance and try to upgrade, though that buyout doesn't look pretty.

A cliche, sure, but he's not a "fraud." You know exactly what you're going to get out of him.

I didn't expect Ole Miss to win this game. I also didn't at all expect us to have a great defense (well done, Tyrone) that couldn't get a fricking drop of help from our offense.

The clusterfrickery at quarterback is no different than David Cutcliffe's "three headed monster" that he ended his career with. Bolden going down to injury is heartbreaking. And the offensive line looked surprisingly weak out there, yet we were STILL in a position to win this and just couldn't get our shite together. I can't say that I'm all that surprised because Houston Nutt hasn't really ever coached a team all that well in the fourth quarter. I'm sure people can find examples here and there, but I'm talking about big picture shite here.

So the long and short of it is that I'm not upset that we lost. I'm upset that we lost in the way that we did. If BYU would have rolled their way to 30+ points (something I fully thought they were capable of with their offense against our defense) or something, that somehow would have been BETTER to sit through than yesterday's bedshitting.

What makes you think that keeping him would have been all that great?

Ole Miss' hires since Cutcliffe have been improvements? Also, Ole Miss' hiring of Cutcliffe appears to be solely for his relationship with the Mannings and his ability to land Eli. After Eli was gone, Cutcliffe was given little to no time to rebuild the QB position. You fired him one year after a double digit win season and Cotton Bowl victory and replaced him with Yaw Yaw. On the surface, it just looks bad.

Yeah, I'd say that firing was a mistake.
