Oh, this thread will come back and bite him in the arse like the majority of his threads. I have a feeling this will be bumped in March.

Ole Miss returns a ton and has some good transfers. No way 12th. Go back and research more.

A group of teams are expected to take a step forward this year (Ala, Aub, TAM, Miz, MSU). Doubt all of them can, at the end of the season coaches will start getting on the hot seat. Could be the SEC's strongest year from top to bottom.

Dont really see a glaringly bad team in this conference this year like usual. LSU should be improved as should Mizzou. I think last place will be around a 5-13 type team instead of the usual 2-16 or 3-15. Definitely could be LSU and I have no issue putting us last for now with by far the most questions seemingly with a new coach and poached roster. I'd be shocked if we did finish dead last though, Wade is one of the better coaches in this league and that's saying something now vs. years ago, he's really gone ahead and got things moving right away vs. being content in year 1 with some of the shite JJ left him. He has purged the 4 worst players off the team from last season (ER III, Hayward, Jenkins, Patterson) and added a lot of good talent so far, and may even have a late surprise in Randy Onwuasor or even Mitchell Robinson.
To me I'd say the Top 5 seem to be UK, UF, aTm, Arky and Bama. I'd put UF and UK 1/2 as they seemingly just get it done vs. everyone else in this conference, benefit of the doubt, despite both having major questions coming into this year themselves.
Arky aTm and Bama all have their questions, but return some serious strengths among them, which separates them from the next group IMO. Arky has a dominant guard group, but a potential issue in the front court. aTm is the opposite with a dominant front court, but potential back court issue. Bama just has lots of talent and some with experience now, and really no excuse to not make a big leap this year, it's up to Avery to get it together.
I'd put the rest of the teams behind those Top 5. LSU last, and it's a tough call for the rest from 6-13 honestly between USC, Vandy, Auburn, MSU, Mizzou, Ole Miss, Tennessee and UGA.
Really wide open type of year.

Kentucky is 9 deep.

Auburn cannot seem to get it together even with a lot of recruiting ranking talent

Auburn went undefeated vs bama in bball but they ranked higher?

It should be a lot like baseball was this season, quite a few teams jostling for spots.
I thought the conference was much better then people gave us credit for last year and it might be even better this year.
For Arkansas it is going to be all about tempo, if we can get teams to run and gun with us then we will be fine. If we have to play a half court game then we'll have trouble.
Kentucky is very young but they have really good talent. I suspect there will be some hiccups to start the season but by conference tournament time they should be clicking.
I do think LSU will do better then people think this year but JJ burned that program to the ground on his way out the door. Wade is doing a great job rebuilding but he's probably a year away from being able to reap the benefits of that.
Could be a roller coaster ride of a season for the SEC.

Alabama was still finished higher than Auburn last year, and we should be much better this year.

but not better than auburn who had a better recruiting class and beat bama last year.

They had a much better recruiting class than we did and even moreso after Wiley was removed. Sexton is a top 10 overall player and legit 1 and done talent. They are young which I think could cause some problems but talent wise they are legit.

Not sure why anyone would sleep on an AK team anyway.

Has he ever finished twelfth? He won't start this year.

Not true.

That might matter if Auburn hadn't lost to all those other teams.

Crazy to think 5 years ago this LSU team would have probably won the SEC West. Now the conference is so loaded that I'm just not sure who LSU can finish ahead of. However I do know that LSU is going to play spoiler more than a few times if we're in fact the 14th best team in the conference. It's just not LSU's time yet

I didn't say anything about making any kind of postseason, just finishing 13th instead of 14th

If/When Jontay Porter reclassifies, it is hard to see Mizzou finishing below 6th. Everyone will claim this will be an LSU/Ben Simmons situation, but I doubt it. I believe Mizzou will be in the top 25 and NCAA Tourney by season end, and could possibly be the biggest turnaround in NCAA Basketball history. Mizzou does have the 8th best odds per Vegas to win the whole thing, 2nd best in the league to Kentucky.

the conference is as strong as i have seen it in a long time, and i look forward to the season...bruce and johnson have finally brought life back to basketball in the state of alabama, and both are going to be in the hunt for. not only an ncaa bid, but the conference championship....wait and see...if the updykes can get better on the offensive end, look out, because they play good defense....if AU can get better on the defensive end, look out, because they can score....there is going to be some serious basketball played in the SEC this year, and look out for moo state
