When was Texas "here"? The late 60's? It's interesting how a school with only one NC in the last 40 years seems to be able to wield, or should I say think that they wield, so much power.

What would a dishonest question be?

A veiled attempt to troll?

Either way, I really don't see the dominance ending any time soon. The SEC is still hauling in the vast majority of top recruits. Traditional bottom-feeders like Vandy and even UK are improving (at different rates of course). The biggest threat in the near future would be that the SEC really does take such a toll on itself through conference play that every team has 2 losses. Then we might miss the playoff completely.

Anyone saying that FSU winning changes that the SEC is the dominant conference is being silly. The South won battles in the Civil War. Germany won battles in the world wars. Hell, FRANCE won a battle or two then ended up getting owned. The point is that 1 victory in 8 years means you won a battle, but you can't claim the war or even being in control of the war.

I guess I'm just in awe of the machine and coming to grips with how utterly powerful it's become. Those salaries are massive. These are CEOs plain and simple. I just wondered how unprecedented this was and what could potentially stop it.

10+ wins 9/17 years (Big 12 Era)

4 BCS appearances since 2004, with 3 wins and a title

fricking dumb. Historical programs don't always come back.

When you're Texas or USC you do. How could they not when you consider the recruits that California and Texas put out?

I'd say nothing is sustainable but we have a huge demographic advantage, not to mention the benefit of future demographic shifts.

It's hard to come back when all your recruits are going to the giant SEC school 90 minutes east of you.

Part of the reason fans of those particular teams dislike the SEC so intensely is that Alabama did come back while theirs continue to flounder.

Ask Army. Or Minnesota. Or if I want to get really anal, Harvard, Yale, and Princeton.

I'd think USC and Texas will be back near or at the top at some point, but there aren't any guarantees.
