OP.....horseshite thread my man.

Why don't we discuss the total lack of talent and depth on the OL when he was hired dumbnut. We had to use a freaking FORDHAM transfer at ROT for most of Macs first year and we had true frosh playing....in fact at times we had three true frosh OL starting.

Of course now they are supposed to better on the OL. I get it. We have a r/s frosh QB who had never taken a snap when the season opened...every team is going to stack the box and prevent us from running...we do the same. Our defense is actually very good considering they worn down with meatchicken and we first string defensive players on kick coverages due to lack of depth (suspended players would have helped some on special teams. Our defense has scored 3 TDs in 2 games BTW.
And NO he shouldn't be fired if we do lose to UK..I had it as an L before the season started...well, we would be 1-1 in the east and UK has tough games..so we could still win the east.

Mac will be our HC through 2018...and he could go 5-7 this year and wont be fired...so stop this crap.
Now, if we aren't drastically improved by 2018? That's a whole other story.

Relax enjoy the damn season that just started.

I think he just wanted to see what fans from other places thought. But that anyone wouldn't want a coach who's 14 - 3 in his Conference with one dropped game in his Division after two years of going to the Conference Championship when we couldn't even beat Georgia Southern at home before he came -- that person just isn't being honest with themselves.

McElwain deserves to stay, and that we're even talking about this is kind of depressing.

I would give him another year only if he cuts Nuss loose: that dude is turrible.

So why is his record substantially better than Bert's?

Because Bert has to play in the West. UF would have been raped in the West over the last 5 years. Find another argument.

If he doesn't reign in the discipline issues and cut out all of the cancer on the roster - AND - either get rid of Nuss or show that the offense is a legit item and not a bag of dookie, then he has to go.

Record in the East is not that persuasive. Beating Butch Jones, Kirby Dumb, Porky Pig Stoops, Pathetic Vandy, and Muschamp just isn't something to hang your hat on.

I think he's getting by off Floridas resources. He's an average coach but not good enough for a big program. His offense has been a complete disaster. I would guess he is allowed to make changes and gets next year to show something. His personality bothers me. He is overly sensitive and seems like he is about to cry a lot. I will be happy to see him fail. I don't dislike Florida so my issue is just with him.

I always thought that McElwain would be a great hire for Bama after Saban hung it up. His game plans were usually spot on...that 2009 SECCG was a thing of beauty, one of my favorite Bama games ever. An almost perfect offensive performance.

But at UF, it just doesn't seem to be a good fit. Don't know if it's a cultural thing or not. After Spurrier, the HCs at Florida seem to have been wound up tighter than a drum, except for Mac. The Florida fans may be more accustomed to a frenetic kind of coach rather than an "ain't it cool" kind of guy.

It's not: Oh we won the East, amazing.

It's: Hey, we hadn't won the East since 2009.

Our last coach lost to an FCS.

We didn't bowl in 2013.

We almost didn't bowl in 2014.

So, from not bowling to winning the East, I think that is something to hang your hat on.

We've won in Death Valley twice since 2004. That's 5 - 2, one was by McElwain.

Setting defensive record, all-time for Florida in least yardage ever permitted.

Only SEC coach to win his Division twice in a row.

I mean, sure, it's not impressive -- but considering what we were BEFORE he came to Florida and what we are AFTER, I'll take it.

I wouldnt want Mac gone yet unless I already knew there were a great coach that would come in behind him.

Mac needs experience. Florida wasnt the best place to acquire experience BUT hes there now and he will only get better IMO. Nuss was a terrible hire. He should be already gone or demoted. Mac also has to make recruiting linemen a bigger priority. I think he knows all this but hes gotta grow some hair on his sack and sack Nuss with the quickness.

The shark thing was embarrassing. He had a softball served up right down the middle to jack out of the park but he fouled out instead. Textbook case of taking yourself wayyyyy too seriously
