see how this betting thing works?

I'm not sure who you were really responding to but I'm pretty sure I understand this betting thingy.

If this is a true opening line, I assume the line setter was looking at things like betting history, overall confidence, Auburn's historical success when playing at Arky, etc.

This being by many to be an unexpected line, you can rest assured that many will bet on Auburn to cover. As I assume you know, Vegas doesn't give a shite who wins (neither the teams or betters), Vegas wants there to be as even of a split as possible. After all, they make money on the juice paid by the loses and want the "losers" bet, before juice, to cover the "winners" winnings.

That said, I'm surprised by the opening line and would love to know the thought process. Of course, that won't be shared.

So you don't think J. Johnson jives with a Gus Malzhan offense. I'm sure you know what you're talking about so please help me understand what in the world makes you think that?

I responded to you because you were the last post in the thread. We are saying the same thing here. Many of your auburn brothers were trying to explain the line by saying they were trying to get auburn bettors. I was merely explaining why their theory is flawed. Nothing more

I don't find this surprising, since we're at home. Having said that, I'm not at all confident we'll win.

So, when setting lines, you think that Vegas cares about which team wins.

I say that Vegas doesn't give a shite about who wins, they only want an even betting split.

One of if us is surely "one dumb bastard".

Edited to add:

If the bets are not even,"Vegas" sure as hell cares who wins but that's not why they set lines.

Malzahn will pull every high school trick in the book to try to win this game. His little signs on the sideline will be more embarrassing to college football than they've ever been.

The prairie dogging will make true football fans want to puke and his defensive coordinator will want to strangle him for leaving his unit on the field for most of the game while our team runs down their neck.

Good times.
