They got pinched for getting Player A a car at $2000 under value ( a 2006 model, which was the embarrassing part). The cash payment and other fluff got a disassociation for a booster and a show cause for a coach ( scenarios that you should probably familiarize yourself with).
So yes, they were on probation when ranked #1.

hey just saying glass houses. It's hilarious when State fans run around calling Ole Miss cheaters and then bring up being ranked #1 when they got caught cheating for that team.

Just yanking chains. Everybody knows that cheating is the only way to win. I'm not endorsing it and I wish it wasn't so, but it's a fact of CFB. Bama was on probation for back to back titles in '11 and '12, I think.

And don't even try to compare Msu to Ole Miss on your topic. We swiftly fired a coach and got rid of a booster for FAR LESS than what has been going on in Oxford.

Please where did I compare the twos cheating. State got caught cheating to build their #1 ranked team before it fell apart. That makes them cheaters when they accomplished that.
Also your the one that brought up Ole Miss cheating like State is some super clean program that didn't cheat for their great accomplishments.

And I'm OK with that. Cohen is certainly prickly at times, but he's also very smart. I just don't know if his competitive intensity has calmed down enough for an office position

Cohen seems like a smart guy that really wants the job and has done what he needs to do to prepare himself for the job.
