Yeah, Nova, War Eagle VII, is the golden eagle, and Spirit's the bald eagle.

Spirit usually flies the early season games, something about the heat being better for bald eagles than golden eagles. I'd expect that has more to do with the practicing than the actual game flight itself.

In falconry, the bird must be hungry or it will just fly away. Cooler weather increases their metabolism, and their urge to eat. Usually, a hawk/eagle/falcon can be flown at a higher weight in cooler weather without risk of it just flying away. So, apparently, the golden eagle is a bit less prone to coming to the lure, and needs the incentive of cooler weather.

Considering the health-state of most recent Uga's, I'd think the last people to make fun of Auburn's mascots would be a Georgia fan.
