He didn't want to leave the state of Texas and LSU couldn't come up with enough money. He got the better job and LSU saved some money with their hire.

wrong. LSU could have come up with it and more. hell we offered Fisher much more. maybe, just maybe LSU didn't think he was worth the money therefore decided not to offer it. what a concept.

LSU dodged a bullet in my opinion

Baylor hired a coach who has ZERO ties to the state of Texas

I'd rather be accused of being perpetually displeased than dense enough to think the worst coach in Ole Miss history was a good hire.

Herman Should Have Accepted The LSU Job
His reception with Texas recruits is going over like a turd floating in a punchbowl
tFear is real.
It's clear that Herman's going to be unable to draw talent to Texas.
Maybe Herman should've taken the LSU job. It's a badass gig.
So Herman is taking over a Texas team with back-to-back losing seasons and he's not in on the current crop of blue chip EEs that are heading to Ohio State (or LSU) and Stanford after being on the job for less than 2 weeks, and that's a turd in the punch bowl? What exactly does that make Sumlin and Chief's efforts? Browning, Okudah, Wilson. Little. Deculus. Dobbins. Anderson. Sumlin and crew have had 3-5 years to recruit these guys, have they not?
In fact, if I look at the top 10 in the state Hines is the only Ag on the list. Oh wait, he's the only Ag in the entire top 25?! Of the state?! Wait, so even with Hines the current avg rank of an Aggy commit is 88.37 - the Horns must have an awful class by comparison, right? Coming off 3 terrible seasons and firing their coach? 91.63 avg player ranking.
Congrats on keeping Hines, Reed, and Horry from having in-home visits from Herman, I guess. Sumlin
Instead of worrying about Herman in his first two weeks on the job you should ask why your drunk arse head coach was sitting courtside in New Orleans for an NBA game while every other coaching staff in college football was hitting Texas high schools recruiting their asses off. Not just Texas D1 schools - LSU, FSU, Ohio State, etc ... all slamming the state before the quiet period. Or maybe the following week when Rumlin was stumble drunk (again) in a River Oaks bar in Houston, while other coaches are out on the road. Or ask why the hell the only Texas school in the SEC, a school that's coach is in his 5th season, why in the hell is Sumlin struggling to sign a class that will even end up in the top 15 in the country (and only due to sheer number of commits). This while Texas and TCU are down and Baylor has a single commit. Shouldn't the Ags have been able to accidentally sign 10 of the top 25 in Texas in a season like this? Shouldn't this have been the perfect time for Sumlin and his staff to dominate Texas recruiting?

LSU more than had the money. I think Herman wanted the Texas job more. LSU did not want to get into a biding war with Texas who has more money than any athletic department in the country.

Why do Aggie fans care so much about Texas?

Last time I checked Rivals ranked our class 5th nationally and we are continuing to have guys get upgraded star ratings.
Released a 4* QB commit and picked up a 5* QB commit. Yeah and our Coaches are a bunch of dumbasses? LOL.

Even if LSU matched or offered more money than Texas Herman still would have gone to Texas. He is from Texas and that is where he wanted to coach. Herman wanted a bidding war and after LSU's first offer was declined LSU said no thanks.
